Lurssen's All-New 146m Superyacht OPERA Launches

German shipyard Lurssen has launched the stunning 146m (479ft) superyacht OPERA from its Bremen facility.

Previously known as Project Sassi, the owners have chosen the name OPERA for this handsome yacht, a neat design that contains a staggering GT exceeding 10,000. Following its launch, superyacht OPERA is now one of the world's biggest yachts.

Boasting exterior styling from the creatives of Terence Disdale Design, superyacht OPERA looks sharp and statuesque. Inside, floor-to-ceiling glazing for unbeatable vistas, creating a strong connection to the great outdoors.

With her delivery scheduled for December 2022, the details of interiors and specifications remain shrouded in mystery.

First views of the latest Lurssen superyacht reveal dual touch-and-go helipads on both the aft and fore deck, plus a large main deck swimming pool and an extensive beach club.

Prior to her launch, superyacht OPERA was last seen as an empty hull in May 2021 as she was transferred into the floating dock at Bremen.

World's Largest Yachts

Gross Tonnage (GT) measures the total interior space of a yacht, covering all living areas and storage. When comparing superyacht OPERA and (for example) the world's second longest superyacht DUBAI, GT becomes the go-to metric for size, since - despite their length difference - they offer nearly the same usable volume. The difference? Only one extra shipping container’s worth of room.

Enter the YB100, YachtBuyer’s cutting-edge ranking system for the world’s largest yachts based on GT. Superyacht DUBAI takes the ninth spot instead here, slipping six places from her length-based ranking in the Top 100. Superyacht OPERA lands in eighth on the YB100, bumping up one position from her length rank of ninth place.
