Nobiskrug’s distinctive 77m (252.6ft) superyacht ‘Black Shark’, looks set to be handed to her Owner next summer after the yard announced it had renewed the contract for her construction.
The project was officially announced by Nobiskrug back in April 2018, with a spring 2021 delivery date initially penned. However this was then disrupted, first by the Coronavirus pandemic and then when the German yard filed for insolvency in April 2021.
The renewing of the contract means Nobiskrug will now continue with the construction of the vessel and represents the third order since the yard was taken over by the Tennor Group in August 2021.
“In intensive negotiations we prevailed against strong competitors and proved that we are the best partner for our customer. The fact that we were able to renew the contract for the construction of this outstanding ship makes me very proud on behalf of the employees of the shipyard,” said Philipp Maracke, Managing Director of Nobiskrug.
The remaining work on Black Shark will take place at Nobiskrug’s 160m (525ft) dry dock. This will see interior and exterior outfitting finalized and filling and fairing work on the hull completed.
The superyacht has many shark-inspired features, namely a mast reminiscent of a shark’s fin on a silver metallic superstructure. Matte black paintwork will also be applied to the hull to mimic the skin texture of a black shark. Another distinctive feature is her reverse bow.
Full details on the five-deck superyacht are still to be released but we do know she will have a large spa area and whirlpool and space for two tenders and is a collaboration with Winch Design on her exteriors and Sinot Yacht Design on her interiors.
Nobiskrug was founded in 1905 and has since constructed over 750 vessels. Initially focused on sailing yachts, the yard completed its inaugural motor yacht in 2000, 92m (302ft) superyacht TATOOSH, More recently it delivered 80m (262.5ft) ARTEFACT, recent winner of two International Yacht and Aviation Design Awards. Its largest build to date remains the 142.8m (468ft) Sailing Yacht A, the world’s largest sailing yacht and one of the ten largest yachts in the world.
