Judges’ Commendation for Best Technical Achievement, Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2019
The Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2019, held in January at the prestigious Alexander Girardi Hall, brought together industry leaders, yacht builders, and enthusiasts to celebrate outstanding achievements in the world of yachting. The Judges’ Commendation for Best Technical Achievement category celebrated a lineup of standout models, showcasing the best the industry had to offer. The award was taken by Luna, distinguishing itself as the top yacht in this category. The event was both ticketed and invitation-only, ensuring an exclusive and celebratory atmosphere to honour the year’s most notable yachts.
Winner
The yacht Luna was the winner of the Judges’ Commendation for Best Technical Achievement in 2019 at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards.
Luiz de Basto envisaged a superstructure almost entirely clad with glass; builder Oceanco rose to the inherent challenges. The yacht required 186 frameless glass panels spread over several decks, all of identical width but many curved and including doors and seamlessly abutting painted surfaces. For these accomplishments and more, DAR receives a Judges’ Commendation for Technical Achievement.
