FPT

Although Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) was only officially established in 2005 as part of the Fiat Group, the company has effectively been producing engines for over 100 years, previously as an alliance between Fiat and General Motors. Its product range is broadly split into two areas, commercial engines and engines for pleasure use.

Engines in both areas are characterized by a lightweight design with low volume-to-power, and weight-to-power, ratios that make for easier installation and high-quality performance. FPT has an annual output of approximately 3.1 million engines and its marine engines have a power range of 480mhp to 1000mhp.

Its F1 Series offers a variety of options for smaller pleasure boats, whilst the NEF series of engines use advanced mechanical systems for fuel injection to ensure high continuous power and torque, reliability, low fuel consumption, and modest servicing costs for both pleasure boats and commercial vessels. Its Cursor series is available in light, medium, and heavy-duty versions that can be customized, and offer high levels of power output.

The impressive pedigree of FPT engines is shown by the fact that in March 2020, a three-point-hull powered by a Cursor 16 engine reached a speed of 277.5 km/h (172mph) to set a new world speed record for a powerboat, breaking the previous record that had stood since 1992.

With a wide range of uses, from record-breaking powerboats to luxury cruising yachts, FPT engines offer maximum performance and efficiency even in the most demanding conditions.
