Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 18.01m beam and a 5.11m draft. The yacht is built over 6 decks with an internal volume of 5,937 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Launched in September 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in March 2016.

Exterior Design

The exterior architecture of Andromeda is a visual spectacle that combines raw power with refined elegance. Conceived by New Zealand's OscarMike Naval Architects with significant input from the original owners, the aesthetic vision is that of a tough, ocean-eating monster. Her six decks tower above the waterline, and her powerful presence is felt from miles away.

Andromeda's exterior is an embodiment of 'expedition style with real presence'. Her hull, originally left unfaired to showcase its rugged utilitarian roots, was later coated with glossy yacht paint, transforming her into a high-gloss beauty without compromising her explorer credentials. This change in exterior finish was not merely cosmetic; it was a conscious decision to match her exterior appearance with the luxury lifestyle she offers on the inside.

The yacht's commercial heritage is evident in her high door sills and unpolished welds. Yet, these features blend seamlessly with the luxurious elements, giving Andromeda a distinct character of her own. Balconies were added to the two VIP staterooms on the boat deck, providing an unobstructed view of the surroundings and enhancing the onboard experience for guests.

This extraordinary vessel is not just about its robust exterior and impressive sea-keeping capabilities, it also offers an opulent stay for its guests, ensuring a seamless blend of adventure and luxury.

Interior Design

Andromeda's interiors have a summer-house feel, through the use of light pastel colors, creating a space that is both warm and welcoming.

The galley is a dream come true for any chef, designed with immediate access to a large forward pantry and a spacious island. Huge windows flood the space with natural light, making it a delightful place to prepare meals. The dining areas on the same deck offer both formal and casual dining options, catering to a variety of moods and occasions.

The bridge, entirely designed by Rolls-Royce, is a particular highlight. The height and scale of the windows offer an outstanding panoramic view, while the lounge area provides a cozy, social space for guests to relax and enjoy their journey.

Accommodation

Andromeda has been designed to accommodate a grand total of 36 guests, allowing them to traverse the seas in unrivalled comfort. The guest quarters are spread across three decks, with each cabin offering ample space and luxurious amenities. The most sought-after accommodation onboard the Andromeda are the two VIP cabins, located on the boat deck. Each of these VIP cabins comes with a private balcony, offering views of the sea.

In addition to the VIP cabins, the upper deck hosts several guest cabins that share some outdoor space. This unique feature adds to the novelty of the stay, allowing guests to step out of their quarters and immediately soak up the sun and sea breeze.

The pièce de résistance of Andromeda's accommodation is the owner's area that occupies an entire deck. The bedroom in this area faces the rear, overlooking a private aft terrace. Moving forward, one can find a lounge and a bar, perfect for unwinding with a drink in hand and the sea as the backdrop.

In terms of crew accommodation, Andromeda is capable of carrying up to 22 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Andromeda is powered by a versatile diesel-electric propulsion system, which offers both high performance and excellent fuel efficiency. This system allows the yacht to reach a top speed of 15 knots, and maintain a cruising speed of 12 knots. This robust engine gives the yacht an impressive range of 8500 nautical miles, making it perfectly suited for long-distance, transoceanic voyages.

One of the key features of the Andromeda is its exceptional stability. The yacht is equipped with a state-of-the-art stabilisation system that reduces roll motion effect, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable ride. This is especially beneficial in rough sea conditions, where the stabilisers significantly enhance the yacht's seaworthiness and passenger comfort.

The yacht's hull is built to ice-class specifications, allowing it to navigate icy waters with ease. This makes the Andromeda an ideal choice for those looking to explore the colder, more remote corners of the globe.

The Andromeda also boasts a dynamic positioning system that allows it to maintain its position and heading automatically, without the need for manual control. This is particularly useful when anchoring in deep waters, or when precise manoeuvring is required.

Leisure & Entertainment

The main deck houses a large wellness center, combining both a spa and a gym. This space evokes tranquility and relaxation and invites guests to unwind and rejuvenate in style. The cinema, located on the boat deck, along with a saloon, forms an informal party area where guests can enjoy a movie or engage in a lively game of pool. A mirror-finish stainless steel bar adds a touch of sophistication to the space.

Andromeda also incorporates practical features that cater to an active cruising lifestyle. The yacht houses an impressive collection of marine toys, including a 21-metre foiling catamaran, two 14-metre Naiad RIBs, four sailing dinghies, four jet skis, a landing craft and an amphibious RIB.

In addition, a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort.
