Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and superstructure she features a 12.8m beam and a 3.8m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 2,064 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in early 1963. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Bart Roberts features a raked bow, contributing to its efficient navigation and stability in various sea conditions. The hull is painted a distinctive red, offering high visibility and a striking contrast to the white superstructure. This combination ensures a clean and purposeful look, while the white boot top provides a seamless transition between the hull and the superstructure. Below the waterline, the yacht is coated in black, a choice that underscores its robust and durable construction. This straightforward color scheme and design elements focus on functionality and performance, aligning with the yacht's practical utility and straightforward elegance.

Guests are ferried from shore by the yacht's custom-built twin turbo-diesel landing craft, which is robust enough to carry a full-sized sports utility vehicle and can also function as a pusher-tug if needed. Upon arrival, guests step onto a broad platform that hinges down from the ship's side just above water level, leading to a steel-encased stairway that ensures there is no risk of accidental flooding.

The main deck is planked with mature Douglas fir and features a 3m by 6m swimming pool, engineered to be flush with the deck. This pool can be lowered into the hold and moved aside on rollers to accommodate large items, such as a 6m standard shipping container, which are managed by a 30-tonne hydraulic crane with a maximum reach of 23.8m. Bart Roberts also includes a 15m Thriller Cat capable of carrying 25 passengers at speeds up to 113kph, a RIB tender, and a rescue boat.

Bart Roberts offers a reasonable amount of open deck space, including a sheltered aft deck for outside dining, a sun deck on top of the bridge, and a helicopter deck and hangar aft of the funnel. The technical areas are spacious, with separate locations for the main engines and generators, allowing for easy maintenance and operation.

Interior Design

The interior design of Bart Roberts is characterized by practical elegance and functionality. The main saloon, occupying the entire aft section of the superstructure, spans an impressive floor area. This space features a 3-meter (10-foot) headroom achieved by merging two decks and reinforcing the structure with a new deck beam. The saloon flooring is crafted from antique bricks arranged in a herringbone pattern. Each brick has been meticulously halved to maintain headroom and set in cement leveled to eliminate deck camber.

The centerpiece of the saloon is a substantial fireplace constructed from 14 tonnes of natural stone, topped with a mantelpiece made from a bisected authentic bronze cannon. The port side of the saloon houses a bar, featuring a clear resin counter embedded with a collection of 'treasure.' On the starboard side, there is a Yamaha self-playing grand piano connected to the main sound system. Central to these features is a seating area and a dance floor, complete with a retractable pillar.

Adjacent to the saloon, the dining room contains a large oak table capable of seating over 20 guests. An aquarium filled with piranha fish separates the dining room from the saloon. This space also features a large painting by Jeff Maltby, specially commissioned for the yacht. On the starboard side of the dining room, there is an office, a pair of day heads, and a small but comfortable movie and sound room. This area also includes a passenger lift that connects all decks.

Accommodation

Bart Roberts provides accommodation for up to 20 guests, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious stay. The yacht features five primary guest suites, all located on the upper deck, each offering outside views for a refreshing maritime experience.

The VIP suite is the highlight of the accommodation, stretching across the forward side of the superstructure. It features a private balcony, a spacious central bedroom, a lavish en suite bathroom, a walk-in wardrobe, and a separate head. This suite is designed to provide maximum comfort and privacy for its occupants.

Each of the three double cabins is furnished in a Spanish colonial style and comes with its own en suite bathroom, complete with full-sized tubs. The twin cabin also includes an en suite bathroom, similarly equipped with a full-sized tub.

On the lower deck, there are five additional cabins situated forward of the engine room. These cabins, although lacking sea views, are equipped and decorated to the same high standard as the upper deck cabins, ensuring a consistent level of comfort and luxury throughout the yacht.

She is also capable of carrying up to 24 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
