Design & Construction

Designed around a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.9m beam and a 6m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,110 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 1990. Launched in March 2006 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2006.

Exterior Design

The Maltese Falcon yacht's hull has been restored to its original "Perini-blue" color, maintaining its classic appearance. A new permanent awning has been added over the main deck cockpit to increase shade and practicality. This addition is designed to blend with the yacht's existing profile without altering its iconic silhouette.

On the upper deck, the removal of the spa pool has made way for a new round sunbed. This sunbed can rotate to follow the sun, and features a retractable cover and a built-in mister to provide cooling. This change enhances the outdoor relaxation area while maintaining functionality. The yacht also offers an outdoor cinema experience, with films projected on the bottom sail, providing a unique entertainment option for guests.

The Maltese Falcon is not simply an emblem of nautical engineering; it is also a sanctuary of luxurious living and sophisticated design.

Interior Design

The interior design of the Maltese Falcon reflects a focus on creating a welcoming, warm, and sophisticated atmosphere. Designer Emanuela Esposito led the refit, transforming the yacht's previously dark interiors into brighter, more inviting spaces. The refit involved the use of natural fabrics such as linens and raw silks, complemented by beige and cream soft goods, to achieve a homely feel. Macassar ebony details were incorporated into the furnishings, providing subtle contrast and depth.

All furniture, lamps, and upholstery were custom-made by Italian artisans, ensuring a cohesive design throughout the yacht. The existing honey-coloured wood panelling was retained, while woven leather elements replaced honeycomb panels and steel slats. The central staircase, a key feature of the yacht, was preserved and its burgundy sharkskin leather was restored.

The lighting design was overhauled to address the initially cold ambiance. New indirect LED dim-to-warm bulbs were installed, and opalescent "moon" leather ceilings were added to enhance the lighting. This change significantly reduced power consumption and created a more vibrant interior environment.

Amenities within the interior spaces include updated massage and gym areas, equipped with the latest machines. The yacht also boasts an indoor cinema, offering a modern entertainment experience.

Accommodation

The Maltese Falcon offers a refined and comfortable accommodation experience for up to 12 guests in six suites comprising an owner cabin, a VIP cabin and four double cabins.

The owner's suite, located on the lower deck, spans the full beam of the yacht, providing an expansive and private retreat. This master cabin is complemented by elegantly designed interiors, incorporating an Asian influence with unique artworks and custom furnishings.

Additionally, the yacht houses a VIP cabin on the bridge deck, which rivals the master suite in elegance. Overlooking the aft deck, this cabin provides a unique perspective and is adorned with oriental artworks and luxurious amenities. The configuration allows the owner to choose between the VIP and master suite, depending on the voyage.

She is also capable of carrying up to 19 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

One cannot discuss the Maltese Falcon without highlighting her revolutionary sailing system. The Dynarig system, based on three rotating carbon fiber masts, is a technological marvel that deploys up to 2,396 square meters of sail. This massive sail area is capable of propelling the yacht to a top speed of 25 knots, all while maintaining stability and comfort for those onboard. The sail rig features precise controls and a comprehensive mast handling system.

When not under sail, the Maltese Falcon can be powered by two robust Deutz 12-cylinder engines, each delivering 1,499 horsepower. These engines allow the yacht to reach a maximum speed of 19 knots. When cruising, she moves gracefully through the water at 16 knots. This balance of power and finesse ensures that guests onboard experience both thrilling performance and serene passages across the seas. Efficiency onboard the Maltese Falcon is paramount, with a fuel consumption rate of 350 liters per hour when cruising.

The Maltese Falcon has embraced sustainability through the implementation of LED lighting throughout the vessel, leading to significant energy savings. Moreover, a new engine control room and new generators have been installed to reduce noise and vibration, enhancing the serene ambiance that guests expect from a luxury yacht of this caliber.
