Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure she features a 14.4m (47.2ft) beam and a 4.2m (13.7ft) draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 3,367 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a helipad.
Construction started in late 2001. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in August 2003, Queen Miri undertook sea trials over the following months and was delivered to her owners in June 2004.
Exterior Design
The yacht presents an appealing silhouette, featuring a high elongated bow, a streamlined superstructure, and expansive deck space across all four exterior levels, all traditionally laid with teak.
Atop the yacht, beneath the radar mast canopy, a day head and service stairway offer convenient access for both service needs and guest convenience in the open area. This area is designed for alfresco dining, a spacious barbecue, and a well-appointed bar. The helicopter platform is elevated a few steps from the deck level. The helipad, decorated with a nautical motif, is a flexible space that transforms easily into a sun lounger dais during the day and a dance floor by night.
The walkways on either side of the bridge deck are generously wide, accommodating two guests walking side by side comfortably.
The yacht features a closed stern, with twin stairways providing access from the main deck aft to the fixed bathing platform. The transom door opens to reveal access to the swimming pool and beach club, which enjoy balconies on each side from lowering the shell doors. The pool area features large-scale marine life artwork and access to a collection of inflatables and other water toys. A passerelle unfolds from the starboard side section of the transom.
The eye is drawn along the side profile of the yacht, with a prominent white bootstrap defining the water's edge and a series of portholes ensuring natural light reaches the lower deck interiors. The foredeck is primarily an operational space with a high mast and ample room for anchoring and mooring hardware, along with watercraft stowage and a launching crane. A guest seating area is provided in an elevated forward-facing position.
Interior Design
The interiors of Queen Miri are designed to accommodate large guest numbers with ample seating in flexible configurations. A signature royal blue is featured in the carpets and soft furnishings, with various hues introduced to soften the look and provide variety. Feature light fittings, well placed within ceiling borders, cast gentle light over the salons. A large bar with soft white leather bar stools on gold stands adds a touch of elegance. Occasional pops of deep red draw the eye and create interest.
The games room features a pool table with velvet matching the carpet, and comfortable reclining chairs positioned to embrace the view through the large windows.
Guest hallways have a more neutral aesthetic with ecru carpets with patterned trim, directing focus to the extravagant curved balustrade of the grand internal staircase that serves all floors.
