Launched in January 2015 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2015.
Exterior Design
Yersin's hull, with its ice-class certification, is a robust structure engineered to navigate through the harshest marine environments, from the icy waters of the polar regions to the balmy climates of the tropics. Crafted by the French shipyard Piriou, known for their expertise in constructing vessels designed for endurance, Yersin's silhouette is commanding, with a steel-grey façade. The superstructure is thoughtfully laid out, providing ample space for equipment and research activities, while maintaining sleek lines that are the hallmark of luxury yachts.
The aft deck, which can double as a touch-and-go helipad, is an expansive area that can also accommodate a seaplane, thanks to a robust crane system that allows for seamless deployment and retrieval of various exploration vehicles. This area is also equipped with power points for deep-sea divers and can store a mini-sub or decompression chamber.
Yersin's exploration capabilities are enhanced by her fleet of customized tenders, including bulletproof Zodiac Hurricanes and a sleek Wajer Osprey, all designed to withstand the rigors of remote expeditions. This collection of tenders is not only practical but also complements the yacht's overall aesthetic, with their designs reflecting the cutting-edge technology and strength that are intrinsic to the Yersin's character.
Interior Design
The interior, crafted by Pierre J. Kubis Designs, showcases a thoughtful combination of contrasting oak and Zebrano veneers, complemented by the timeless beauty of aged oak flooring interspersed with plush wool carpets. The main salon serves as a central gathering place for guests, offering ample seating arranged to encourage conversation and relaxation. The décor is understated, focusing on comfort and practicality rather than unnecessary embellishments. Large windows provide plenty of natural light, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and connection to the surrounding environment.
Yersin also features a dedicated cinema room, equipped with a 4K projector and surround sound system. This 20m² space is designed for entertainment, fitted with plush seating for 15 guests, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience during long passages.
Adjacent to the main salon, there is a spa area. This space includes a hot tub, massage room, and hairdressing station. The spa is designed to provide relaxation and rejuvenation, essential amenities for guests on extended expeditions. Additionally, the spa area features a hammam and a gym, providing options for both relaxation and physical activity.
Accommodation
Yersin can generously accommodate up to 18 guests within its beautifully appointed cabins, each meticulously crafted to provide a serene and soothing atmosphere conducive to long voyages.
The centerpiece of Yersin's guest accommodations is the full-beam master suite, situated forward on the upper deck. It features a white Corian bathroom, a practical kitchenette for private dining, a dedicated office space for attending to affairs uninterrupted, and a private deck area.
In addition to the master suite, Yersin hosts a series of guest cabins that are simply decorated yet exude superyacht quality and comfort. Each cabin is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities such as color-changing "luminotherapy" showers, anti-steam mirrors, and marshmallow-soft beds, ensuring guests experience a restful night's sleep.
Yersin is equipped to comfortably house a crew of 24 members. The crew accommodation offers internet access, ample storage, en suite shower rooms, and a dividing curtain that offers privacy when roommates have differing work schedules.
