Grand Banks Eastbay 44 Boat

A sleek and comprehensively modernised evolution of Grand Banks’s classic Downeast series of mid-size, coupé-style motor launches, the Eastbay 44 is designed for dual-purpose cruising and fishing.

It combines a spacious and subtly raised but relatively low-profile pilothouse with three-stateroom accommodation on the lower deck, in a deep-vee hull with flared bows, broad beam and an open aft cockpit for al fresco lounging, dining and fishing – the bathing platform doubles up as an effective marlin board if you go trolling for big game.

About

Interior

The main deck accommodation comprises a large dinette facing a well-equipped galley (or more seating if you have the galley downstairs) and a two-seater helm seat and console up forward and offset to starboard with two opening hatches in the coachroof above. There’s another spacious L-shaped settee in the large, open cockpit. Down below, there are three interior layout options to choose from. Whichever you pick, the master cabin is in the bow with private en suite heads and shower. The whole interior has a classic yacht feel and is nicely fitted out in top-quality teak.

Exterior

The styling is classic and slightly retro with pronounced positive sheer, prominently flared bow sections and the crisp, purposeful lines of a traditional luxury motor cruiser. Broad side decks with high bulwarks and chunky handrails give a feel of security when walking around the decks. The forward coachroof is subtly raised to give ample headroom in the master cabin and a transom door leads aft from the cockpit onto the broad teak bathing platform.

Performance

Designed to cruise efficiently at around 25 knots and with a top speed of about 31 knots, this is a capable sea-going yacht for short-range or medium-range use in fair weather or foul. The hull’s inherent form stability gives a comfortable motion at anchor.
