Lagoon Boats History & Heritage

Established in 1984 as a specialized multihull division of Jeanneau, Lagoon initially gained prominence in 1987 with the construction of the Lagoon 55, a response to a customer's request for a catamaran embodying top-tier luxury, performance, and beauty.

The order for two Lagoon 55s marked the inception of Lagoon's collaboration with French design studio Van Peteghem and Lauriot Prevost, an enduring partnership. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, Lagoon introduced models such as the Lagoon 47, 57, and 67, blending racing multihull technology with heightened comfort and openness. In 1995, Beneteau acquired Jeanneau, solidifying Lagoon's status as a leader in cruising catamarans.

The yard's innovations include the Lagoon 440, the first sailing catamaran with a flybridge helm position, and the Lagoon 420, the pioneering hybrid sailing catamaran. Today, Lagoon, part of CNB, operates from a 100,000-square-meter facility in Bordeaux and has produced over 6,000 vessels since its establishment.
