Lürssen’s 142m superyacht ‘Project Opus’ revealed

Lürssen’s new 142m (466’) superyacht ‘Project Opus’ has been spotted for the first time emerging from the shipyard's Lemwerder facilities ahead of her official delivery later this year.

The luxury motor yacht, also known as 'Project Redwood', will make her way into the top 15 of the world’s largest yachts when she is delivered later in 2020. Her bare hull was launched last year and this is the first time she has been captured in public since outfitting began.

Boasting six decks, a large sport and diving center, two helipads, an oversized, partially covered swimming pool and a fleet of tenders, ‘Project Opus’ is one of eight Lürssen yachts scheduled to be delivered over the next two years.

Nuvolari Lenard is responsible for both her striking exterior and elegant interiors, which we have yet to see. We can expect signature Italian quality as the multi-award winning studio has collaborated with Lürssen before on the 88m (289') Quattroelle, a finalist at the 2014 World Superyacht Awards.

This custom built superyacht has a beam of 19.5m (64’) and also has ‘at anchor stabilisers’ which work at zero speed and increase onboard comfort on rough waters. The scale of her size is made clear by the fact she can accommodate up to 36 guests across 20 suites. She is built to comply with the Passenger Yacht Code and will have long-range cruising capabilities.

‘Project Opus’ was first announced in December 2015 (as ‘Project Redwood’) and she hit the water for the first time in January 2019.

Lürssen is firmly established as one of the foremost builders of full-custom superyachts for sale in the world. There are currently 19 Lürssen built superyachts on the waters that measure 100m (328') plus, with the 180m (590') Azzam being not only the largest Lürssen but also the largest yacht by length in the world at present.

Between now and 2024 the shipyard will deliver another seven 100m (328') plus custom superyachts, including ‘Project Opus’ and the even larger 158m (518') ‘Project Blue’. To see the extent of some of their projects view all Lurssen yachts for sale.
