Starting at the back, the unique tender launching system was highlighted, which was found to be very efficient and cleverly designed. A feature particularly liked here was a rotating seat at the back of the yacht, which allows passengers to enjoy the view. He found this an extremely simple yet effective design detail. There are also canopies that could be rolled up and stored in bags, offering convenience and ease of use. He praised the presence of handrails around the yacht, which offer safety and support during rough weather.

The flybridge of the yacht, with its bar area, barbecue, fridge, and ice maker, was another impressive feature. He also praised the upper helm position for its excellent visibility, which makes maneuvering the yacht easier.

Interior

Inside, Nick was captivated by the color scheme and the social area of the yacht, which includes seating on both sides. The hi-lo TV and the Harman Kardon stereo system were showcased, as well as the efficient use of space for storage. The lower helm was found aesthetically pleasing, particularly of note were the comfortable seats with contrast stitching and the Fairline steering wheel.

The galley, down a staircase with wide treads next to the helm, has convenient storage places, and electric cooking facilities. The master cabin is impressive, with its fantastic color scheme and ambient lighting. Also highlighted were the skylights, which allow ample natural light into the cabin.

The second cabin was also toured and the day heads, which serves as an ensuite. He appreciated the separate shower stall, which keeps the rest of the area dry, and the ample storage space.

Performance

The engine room, which has great accessibility, houses Volvo Penta D6-435 engines in excellent condition.  The top speed that can be achieved is 30 knots, with a range of 200 nautical miles. He also noted the usefulness of the storage area in the engine room.

In Summary

Overall, Nick seemed to have a very high opinion of the Fairline Squadron 42. He was particularly impressed by the innovative design details of the yacht, which he felt displayed a lot of clever thinking.
