On Deck

The boat has a sleek design and many practical features, such as a short bathing platform which houses a garage for a rib and a small outboard. The larger sun pad on the back disguises the garage hatch, with a folding backrest that can be used to create a comfortable lounging area. Another highlight is the table that can be used for entertaining or dining, the wet bar with a sink and barbecue, and the fridge beneath it.

There is a spacious seating area alongside the helm, which can comfortably accommodate three people. The helm seat itself, with its lift bolster and large Raymarine screen for charts, is another feature that he appreciates. The carbon-fiber effect on the helm, the space for a chart, and the bow and stern thrusters are other elements that stand out.

Forward there are more areas for sunbathing cushions, including holders for glasses and anchor winch.

Interior

The lower deck is very spacious with considerable headroom. The seating area, opposite the galley, is another aspect that catches attention. The high quality of the finish in this area and the beautiful woodwork are admired, and also mentioned is the ample storage spaces and the gas cooking facilities in the galley.

The tour of the lower deck reveals a forward cabin with a large double bed and plenty of storage, a heads with a shower and a rotating screen, and a second cabin that feels surprisingly larger than the one on the Targa 38. Despite the lower standing height, the second cabin is very well-appointed with its storage spaces, cushions, and even a sink.

Performance

The engine department, despite having a tender garage taking up space, has a surprising amount of space and a good arrangement of its fuel systems, filters, and Volvo Penta KAD 300 engines.  The top speed is estimated to be in the low-30s.

In Summary

In closing, Nick expresses his continued admiration for the Targa 38, but acknowledges the Targa 40 as a great alternative with some very useful additional features.
