It's always nice to see a Wally, isn't it? And the wallypower50 is more of that classic unique Wally design. This boat neatly slots between the wallytender48 and the wallypower58 in the lineup, bringing Wally's angular lines to the fore.
It's available with Volvo Penta IPS, but if you're after power, you could go for the X version with quadruple outboards capable of pushing it to over 50 knots - perfect for the Miami fraternity. Whichever one you go for, you'll be sure to turn heads.

The wallypower50 is another striking creation from Wally's design team, led by Luca Bassani, in collaboration with the Ferretti Group Engineering team. Designed to bridge the gap between the wallytender48 and the wallypower58, boasting the slender lines that define the Wally look. The glass-and-carbon fibre dome over the wheelhouse is a signature feature, reflecting Wally's commitment to cutting-edge spaceship-like design. And it has the freedom of a boat that's flexible enough to be a chase boat, superyacht tender, or day cruiser.
Wally's design for the 50 has replaced the aft lounger from the wallytender range with two sunbeds, making room for a clear walkway in the middle that runs aft to the wheelhouse. Drop the terraces down, and the cockpit becomes a spacious, completely flat deck for relaxing on or as a platform for watersports. The lower deck features a double cabin with Wally’s "magic" portholes, which use 4k cameras to bring a live feed of the outside in.
There's also an option for the outboard version, the wallypower50X, and you can have four Mercury Racing outboards, each packing up to 500hp, pushing you to over 50 knots at a range of 180 miles.
Inside the wheelhouse, you're completely shielded from the elements. It's fully enclosed, so the full protection from the breeze is great, especially when you're having lunch. You’ve got this big, carbon fibre table that opens up for dining or drops down to coffee table height on its electric pedestal.
Beneath the seating, there’s a handy little fridge - ideal for keeping refreshments close at hand. The floor hatches open up to technical spaces, with access to the fuel tank, Seakeeper, and the generator. Moving forward, the starboard side has a big wet bar, integrated with a hidden sink, fridge, and ice maker. You can even opt for a grill indoors, so those hatches overhead will become invaluable.
The wallypower50 is just shy of 50 feet, but it's designed as a day boat or weekender, not to be a floating hotel. On the lower deck, you'll still find a comfortable double bed for two people to enjoy a night or two on the water. Privacy isn't a big concern here, since there's only one cabin, and the area is left open plan to keep it looking spacious.
There isn't a full galley, but there's plenty of fridge space downstairs and a wet bar up on deck if you do feel the need to rustle up some grub. Storage is integrated with big cupboards on either side, nicely hidden away, and very usable. Headroom is decent, and though there aren't traditional portholes, Wally's "magic" portholes come into play. Cameras on each side keep the yacht's clean profile unburdened with actual windows and the feed relays to screens beside the berth. You do still get natural light in through the roof skylights and a hatch, however.
A decent bathroom is crucial for a boat like this and it manages to deliver with a separate shower cubicle and plenty of space, making it good for day or weekend use. The sofa provides extra seating, adding to the overall comfort of this beautiful lower deck. So, if you're planning an overnight stay, you'll find it pretty comfortable.
You can navigate 260-270nm with ease at cruising speed, with those high-backed Wally helm chairs providing excellent comfort. And they are very stylish too. The dinky carbon fibre steering wheel is a new design from Wally and you’ve got a top-notch driving position, offering amazing views through the windscreen. With the IPS version, you benefit from full Volvo Penta joystick control. It's built for simplicity, making it a superb choice for a chase boat or superyacht tender. The helm’s upright design, with carbon fibre everywhere, creates a seriously cool environment.
Let's find out what makes the aft deck cockpit a standout feature of the wallypower50. You’ve got a fixed platform back here and an integrated passerelle right in the centre, ideal for when you're docked stern-to. Unlike the single massive sun pad on the 58, this model has a middle walkway, which helps when moving around the deck, especially when the balconies are down. These balconies extend the cockpit space by a handy 6m2, giving a real sense of openness and space.
Two sizeable sun pads come with sliding backrests; slide them forward for a larger bench area or keep them in full sun pad mode for basking in the sun. The hardtop stops short, offering the perfect spot for sun worshippers. Beneath these sun pads, you’ll find substantial storage bins, so there’s plenty of functionality too.
Side Decks & Foredeck
The profile is incredibly clean and sleek, so you won't find any guardrails on the 50's side decks, which might suggest quite a precarious experience, but the design has allowed for this. The bulwarks rise to a decent height, allowing you to hold on to the top of the roofline and windscreen comfortably. It’s a bit of a surprise, but moving forward feels perfectly fine.
The windscreen is a stunning bit of design. This single piece of glass angles up to a central line and integrates itself into the roofline, flowing down the hardtop. From the helm, the effect is lovely, giving you fabulous views. There's also some lovely carbon fibre detailing, even on the windscreen wiper arms.
The foredeck opens up into a lovely living space. You’ll find a flat sunbed, beautifully flush with headrests mounted against the forward coaming. This additional living space complements what you find in the cockpit. It's sleek and smart, with that striking windscreen as the highlight.
Our Verdict
As with every Wally, you have to concede that form conquers function in some instances but you wouldn't be reading a Wally review if you didn't recognise that. There are far more practical and useable 50ft cruisers out there but for a certain type of buyer, the Wally magic will far outweigh the lack of practical touches and its limited sleeping space for a boat of this size. Yes, it's flawed but it's flawed in the same way that a Lamborghini Diable is flawed. When you're driving it and when you walk away and turn back and look at it, you simply won't care.

Rivals to Consider
The Wallypower 50 is an exciting choice, with its planing hull propelling it to a healthy top speed of 36 knots and the option for more. It’s a great-looking boat that offers flexibility and style in abundance.
The Pershing 5X proves to be a formidable rival with its storming performance and a top speed reaching 42 knots. This boat is all about power and speed, with a cruising speed of 38 knots that leaves the Wallypower 50 trailing in its wake. If you’re looking for a burst of power and thrill on the open water, the Pershing 5X is a solid bet. However, go for the Wallypower 50X and that would leave the Pershing behind.
Meanwhile, the Riva Dolceriva offers a different flavour with a cruising speed of 31 knots, slightly edging past the as standard Wallypower 50. Riva's signature blend of elegance shines through in this model, making it perfect for those who appreciate a smooth, sophisticated ride with just a touch more pace than the Wallypower 50.
On the other hand, the Princess V50 doesn’t fuss about speed, instead focusing on providing an incredibly comfortable cruising experience at 29 knots. It’s a bit slower, but the emphasis here is on stability and enjoying the journey rather than racing to the next place.
Let’s not forget the Apreamare Gozzo 45. With an impressive range of 350 nautical miles, it’s the ideal choice for those who fancy long voyages and extended time on the water.
Finally, we have the Vanquish Yachts VQ45 Veloce, which brings its own unique trait to the table with a slightly shallower draft. Potentially allowing it to access waters that others can't reach, including the Wallypower 50.
There’s a lot to like about the Wallypower 50, but these rivals each bring something different to the table, making the decision a matter of personal taste and needs in this market.
