Wider Yachts History & Heritage
WIDER Yachts made its debut in 2010, backed by a wealth of experience, under the leadership of Tilli Antonelli, a former racing sailor turned yacht builder. Antonelli, who previously served as chairman of Pershing until 2010, resigned to establish WIDER Yachts.
The company's inaugural project, the WIDER 42, exemplified innovation with its groundbreaking expanding cockpit, a feature that doubled the usable space and distinguished the brand within the yachting industry.
Shortly thereafter, WIDER Yachts announced plans to venture into the aluminum superyacht realm, uniquely positioning itself to build both tenders and the megayachts they serve. In 2014, the company unveiled its next model, the 9.6m WIDER 32.
In 2016, the builder fulfilled its commitment to enter the superyacht market with the launch of the 47m WIDER 150. This groundbreaking vessel set several industry benchmarks, including being the first in its size category to utilize a diesel-electric propulsion system combined with Azimuthal pods. It also received acclaim for achieving a perfect score of 100 out of 100 from RINA for sound and vibration attenuation.
In 2017, Genting Hong Kong acquired full ownership of WIDER Yachts, having previously purchased a 50% stake five years earlier. Subsequently, in 2019, WIDER underwent another ownership change, this time acquired by Nautical Hybrid Tech, Zepter Group, and Hopafi Holding Srl.
Following this acquisition, WIDER Yachts announced plans to commence series production of fiberglass boats, including catamarans, alongside full-custom superyacht construction in steel/aluminum at a new facility near Ancona.
