The Sunseeker 88 Yacht is a fast flybridge yacht designed for crew operation and serious cruising. With a top speed of up to 28 knots from its modified vee planing hull design and shaft drive propulsion, the 88 Yacht can accommodate eight guests in four cabins. The Azimut Grande 27 Metri offers near-identical performance and accommodation and so is a direct rival to the Sunseeker 88 Yacht. Overall, the Azimut is the slightly larger yacht at 26.7m (87ft 10in) in length with a beam of 6.59m (21ft 7in), but interior volume and deck space is a very close match.

Performance

Fast planing yachts with modified Vee hull designs, the Sunseeker and Azimut also come with very similar engine options so it is no surprise to see they both offer top speeds around 28 knots and cruising speeds in the mid-20s. The range of the two yachts should be fairly similar at various speeds, however, the Sunseeker 88 Yacht does have the larger fuel tanks and so its range may well be better overall.

Interior

The Sunseeker and Azimut salons are set on one level with the lounge aft and the dining table forward. Both salons are very bright and enjoy a full-height glass, the Azimut Grande 27 Metri salon windows are the more spectacular but the Sunseeker 88 Yacht features sliding side deck doors for added spectacle and inside/outside style.

Accommodation

The Sunseeker has all of its cabins on the lower deck with a full-beam Owner’s suite amidships that includes a lounge, study area and neat dressing table within the walk-in closet. The Azimut’s raised main deck Owner’s suite enjoys a private entrance and features spectacular full-height glass, with a dressing table and lounge seating. This leaves the three guest suites below decks, and they are impressively big with lots of space around the berths.

Helm Station

Both yachts feature an upper flybridge helm station, the Sunseeker 88 Yacht coming with two seats, the Azimut Grande 27 Metri four, so more people can enjoy the ride. The Azimut’s Owner’s cabin design creates a separate pilothouse-style helm station, whereas the lower helm on the Sunseeker feels very much part of the yacht, joining the galley via a bar area that allows guests to gather before the deep windscreens and really use this part of the yacht.

Deck Areas

Both yachts offer an almost identical set of features, with main deck aft dining, a foredeck lounge and multifunction transom and swim platform that delivers stowage and lounging options. The main difference is the Sunseeker’s more practical full walkaround main deck, whereas the Azimut’s main deck steps up forward to allow space for the full-beam Owner’s cabin.

Flybridge

For such undeniably sophisticated yachts, both flybridge designs keep things nice and simple in terms of layout - the style is typically impressive. The aft deck is left clear for sunloungers with a dining and bar area in the middle section. A hardtop and sunroof are available on both yachts.

Beach Club

A true beach club should be a waterside lounge and terrace. Usually at the stern, a beach club might open on one, two or three sides of the yacht. It should be practical, able to withstand plenty of use, watersports and saltwater, but also luxurious, creating a spectacular retreat day or night.

Compare Layouts

The main design difference between the two yachts is that where the Sunseeker has all of its cabins on the lower deck, the Azimut creates a raised main deck Owner’s cabin forward, pushing the interior helm up into a pilothouse-style position. The Azimut’s design also allows for an optional five-cabin layout, with the forward VIP suite on the lower deck switching to two twin-berth cabins. Both designs work: the Azimut's main salon doesn't feel squeezed by the Owner's cabin, while the Sunseeker's four cabins all feel of a good size.
