Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.6m beam and a 3.63m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,639 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a touch and go heli-pad.

Construction started in late 2002. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in February 2006.

Exterior Design

The Ambrosia's exterior profile, shaped by the renowned Stefano Natucci, effortlessly embodies the epitome of elegance and modern design that is synonymous with Benetti's exceptional craftsmanship. Her sleek lines and balanced proportions span an impressive length of 64.8 meters (212 feet), with a beam of 12.5 meters (41 feet), providing both aesthetic appeal and functional spaciousness.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Ambrosia's superstructure is a testament to the shipyard's dedication to excellence. The use of high-quality materials, including advanced composite structures, ensures not only a timeless appearance but also contributes to her outstanding seafaring capabilities.

The vessel's impressive presence is further enhanced by the paintwork, which features a Boero primer and fairing with a topcoat by Alwgrip / Awlcraft, ensuring a pristine finish that reflects the surrounding waters with a mirror-like sheen. Her teak decks and rails, provided by Monleon, offer a classic yachting touch that complements the modernity of her overall design.

Ambrosia's spacious decks are designed for maximum enjoyment of the sea and sun. The sun deck, doubling as a helideck, is an expansive area that can accommodate a twin-turbine helicopter and offers space for sun loungers, easy chairs, and overlooks the inviting spa pool with a swimming counter-current. Adjacent to the pool, a wet bar with seating for four, complete with a barbecue, promises delightful gatherings under the sun or stars.

For those who seek privacy and panoramic views, the top-level observation deck is a serene haven. This area is partially covered, providing shelter from the elements while still allowing guests to enjoy the majestic vistas of the seascape. Forward of the wheelhouse, an additional open-air seating area offers a comfortable space for up to 12 guests to take in the beauty of the journey.

Ambrosia's exterior elegance is matched by her practicality, as evidenced by the careful consideration given to service requirements. Day toilets are available on every deck for visitors' convenience, and the lower deck, as well as the sun deck, feature additional shower cubicles for guests. The thoughtful integration of these amenities ensures that every need is catered to with the utmost consideration.

Navigating Ambrosia is a captain's delight, with the wheelhouse equipped with the latest in navigational technology, including dual Furuno FEA-2307 chartplotters and a Kongsberg cPos dynamic positioning system. Safety and security are paramount, with advanced surveillance capabilities provided by high-definition gyro-stabilized cameras and a long-range acoustic device (LRAD) for anti-piracy measures.

In terms of tender and water sports storage, Ambrosia boasts two large aft garages, currently housing an 8.5m Vikal limousine tender and a 7.5m Tresco ultra-lightweight multi-purpose sport tender, along with two Kawasaki Jet skis. A foredeck crane ensures additional recreational equipment can be carried and deployed with ease, emphasizing the yacht's readiness for adventure and exploration.

Interior Design

As one steps into the main entrance lobby on the main deck, they are greeted by the grandeur of a stunning wall mural inspired by the art deco era of the 1930s cruise ship "Normandy." This piece sets the tone for the exquisite design journey ahead, complimented by the intricate circular gold-plated balustrade that winds elegantly through the three decks of the vessel.

Dining aboard Ambrosia is an event unto itself. The dining room spans the yacht's width, featuring a wood and marble table that accommodates 14 guests. A tastefully lit display case on the rear wall allows the owner to showcase fine art or decorative pieces, further personalizing the space. Ambrosia's pièce de résistance is the "Stargate" dining room—a circular marvel with a table for 14 surrounded by a glass bass relief of the moon's surface and a dome ceiling that accurately displays the night sky, aligning with the constellations of the current hemisphere.

The main salon, accessible through etched glass doors adorned with historical maps, is the epitome of relaxed elegance. Loose sofas and easy chairs offer comfort for guests, with low-level windows providing a picturesque view of the surroundings. The salon seamlessly transitions into the piano bar, where guests can enjoy the sounds of a Yamaha Clavinova grand piano before stepping onto the marble dance floor or the expansive aft deck.

Accommodation

Ambrosia is fully equipped to accommodate up to 12 guests in exceptional comfort and privacy. The guest quarters are comprised of beautifully appointed cabins, including a VIP stateroom and four additional guest cabins. Each space is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that is the hallmark of both Benetti and Zuretti's design philosophies.

The Owner's suite, a sanctuary of tranquility and luxury, is at the heart of the onboard experience. With large sliding doors connecting to a private study, the full-beam suite is an oasis of calm, offering panoramic views of the ocean through three full-height oval portholes on either side. The central king-sized bed is positioned to maximize the views, and a concealed flat-screen TV rises silently for entertainment, controlled via the integrated Crestron system.

The suite's bathroom is a masterpiece of design, with an opaque glass screen for privacy that becomes translucent at the touch of a button. His and Her areas are divided by a large Jacuzzi tub and a central steam shower, ensuring both comfort and convenience.

Each guest cabin on Ambrosia is an enclave of comfort and luxury. Two double cabins with en-suite Jacuzzi spa baths and walk-in closets, alongside two twin cabins with steam showers, offer guests a private retreat to relax and rejuvenate. The use of high-end materials and the inclusion of state-of-the-art technology ensure that every stay in these cabins is memorable.

Understanding the importance of crew in ensuring a seamless experience aboard Ambrosia, the vessel boasts accommodations for 21 crew members across 11 en-suite cabins. The crew quarters are located in the bow, providing a distinct separation from guest areas, and feature ample space for relaxation and dining. The Captain's cabin and office are strategically placed behind the wheelhouse, underscoring the professional environment in which the crew operates.

Performance & Capabilities

Ambrosia boasts a state-of-the-art ABB diesel-electric Azipod propulsion system with two electric motors, each delivering 1070 kW (1,435 hp), mounted in pods at the stern. This innovative configuration dispenses with the need for long prop shafts, placing the motors outside the hull, drastically reducing noise and vibration for a serene onboard experience. The vessel operates with two large Caterpillar 3512B DITA main generators and two smaller Caterpillar 3408C DITA auxiliary generators, each with catalyzers and particle-filtered exhaust, ensuring reliability and environmental consideration. A Caterpillar 3304 serves as the emergency generator.

With these engines, Ambrosia is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 15.1 knots. However, the vessel truly excels in its cruising range, with an impressive 5,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. At a reduced speed of 10.5 knots, her range extends to an exceptional 9,000 nautical miles, underlining her transoceanic capabilities with fuel economy equivalent to 5,200 liters (1,374 USG) per day.

Quantum stabilizers with ZeroSpeed at-anchor stabilization technology ensure guest comfort at sea or when stationary. The yacht includes a sophisticated Kongsberg Marine dynamic positioning system, allowing Ambrosia to maintain position in winds of up to 25 knots without dropping anchor – a feature that proves invaluable in sensitive marine environments or deep waters.

Ambrosia's diesel-electric setup offers remarkable efficiency – only a single main generator is needed to reach cruising speeds and fulfill all electrical demands of the yacht. This system not only reduces engine operating hours by nearly 70% compared to conventional yachts but also allows the generator to run at near-optimal loads, enhancing the economy, extending engine longevity, and providing more reliable control.

The azipod propulsion and specially designed sound insulation systems create an extraordinarily quiet environment. Even when cruising, sound levels aboard Ambrosia are comparable to those experienced while docked. The collaboration of noise and vibration consultants from Holland, America, and Italy has resulted in a yacht that offers an oasis of calm for her guests.

Ambrosia is equipped with advanced security features, including military-specification gyro-stabilized high-definition cameras, infrared and non-lethal anti-piracy capabilities, and comprehensive CCTV coverage of interior and exterior spaces. For additional safety, the vessel features an LRAD (long-range acoustic device) for deterring potential threats.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Rest and relaxation can be achieved on board, thanks to a luxury spa and sauna. Ensuring everyone on board can enjoy the water to the fullest, luxury yacht Amer offers a large beach club connected to a swim platform, with plenty of space for lounging and soaking up the sea views. In addition, a sumptuous cinema suite allows for movie nights at sea. The yacht features a tender garage with storage for a range of toys and accessories. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Amer also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
