Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.25m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 406 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 2012 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project 688'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2014.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Excellence V, crafted by Dubois Naval Architects, showcases a modern aesthetic with a focus on functionality and visibility. The yacht features a raised pilothouse design, which enhances visibility and facilitates easy access to both the working deck and crew quarters. This design choice minimizes the need for additional structures that would otherwise disrupt the yacht's streamlined profile.

The yacht's distinctive bow and whaleback sheer line offer practical advantages, including improved seaworthiness and a higher forward bow for enhanced spray deflection. The exterior is characterized by large windows in the hull and extensive glass in the superstructure. These glass elements are positioned on top of the metal structure, not inset, to provide uninterrupted views from the owner's stateroom.

The use of glass extends to the flybridge, where protective glass panels can be raised or lowered with ease, allowing for versatility in various weather conditions. These panels, along with the curved sections on the flybridge, are engineered to be distortion-free, ensuring clear views.

Interior Design

The interior design of Excellence V is characterized by dark timbers and a focus on fine details. The helm station, integrated into the flybridge, features an array of controls and instruments, providing efficient operation and navigation.

In the lounges and saloons, the decor is masculine and monochromatic, with scrubbed oak joinery providing a backdrop. Natural fabrics combine with glossy Macassar cabinets and stainless steel trim to create an understated yet cohesive environment. The main saloon is multifunctional, capable of transitioning from formal dining to a casual television area, facilitated by a rotating seating arrangement. This innovation allows occupants to adjust the orientation of the seating for optimal viewing or socializing.

Accommodation

Excellence V offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising an owners cabin, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32) 1,900hp engines running at 2300rpm, motor yacht Excellence V is capable of reaching a top speed of 19 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. With her 51,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 14 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
