Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 14.1m beam and a 4.2m draft. The yacht is built over 6 decks with an internal volume of 3,000 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2015 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in May 2015.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Symphony is a remarkable blend of classic and contemporary aesthetics, a testament to the genius of exterior designer Tim Heywood. He was tasked with the unique challenge of creating something new while incorporating elements reminiscent of the classic yachts. The result is a truly magnificent vessel, exuding grandeur and elegance in every detail.

The "classical" elements of Symphony come from the slightly concave clipper bow, which is clad in high-gloss Flag blue. This feature pays tribute to the traditional yachts of yesteryears, while lending Symphony a timeless charm. The "timeless" element arrives in the form of the hull, which runs aft to midships. Here, the sheer line divides, one line dropping to the main deck bulwark and the upper line running aft to a part that's "ahead of the current fleet."

Heywood's creativity shines through in the "new" elements he incorporated into the design. Inspired by a dolphin's tail, he created a flowing sculptural mast. On it, he rendered a wave in polished stainless steel that looks remarkably like a musical staff waving in the breeze. This innovative design is further amplified by the use of stainless steel accents, which add a modern touch. The mirror-polished supports for the exterior staircases are particularly eye-catching, with sophisticated LED lighting providing the perfect accompaniment.

The unique design of Symphony was not just about aesthetics. It also had to accommodate features that make the yacht comfortable and functional. For instance, when the pool was expanded on the aft main deck, Heywood added some extra enveloping structure to the stern late in the program. He also had to incorporate vast 12-meter hatches at water level, an evolving GA, and the latest entertainment electronics.

Heywood has created a yacht that is not only visually stunning but also functional and comfortable.

Interior Design

Immersing oneself in Symphony's interior is an experience akin to stepping into a world-class art gallery. The creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are nothing short of breathtaking. This is largely due to the collaborative effort of renowned designers - Francois Zuretti for the layout and avant-garde American designer Peter Marino for the interior decoration.

The interior of Symphony is a symphony of textures, materials, and artistry, drawing influences from Bali, Thailand, and Africa. Marino's choice of materials is a testament to his love for the exotic and the luxurious, using bronze, satinwood, palm and banana leaf, bamboo, natural silk, textured leather, and rough parquet in large planks. These blend together seamlessly to create an atmosphere that is both exotic and comforting.

One of the standout features of Symphony's interior is the impressive use of glass. The owner's insistence on the largest possible windows and the lowest possible bulwarks throughout Symphony reinforces the yacht's relationship with the water. In spaces like the library and dining room, the glass extends from just 20 centimeters off the floor right up to the ceiling, creating the sensation of floating on water.

The main deck's living spaces feel vast and open onto a long aft deck with a centerpiece, a six-by-three-meter contraflow infinity pool.

Throughout Symphony, the floors are adorned with long, luxurious planks of hand-scraped French oak in the living areas, inviting guests to walk barefoot and enjoy the natural feeling underfoot.

One of the yacht's most intriguing features is the lift shaft, embellished with a video wall running the entire height of the shaft and even extending into the floor. It has two settings: outer space and aquarium, adding a touch of magic to the journey between levels.

Accommodation

The yacht is designed to provide accommodation for up to 20 guests, assuring a comfortable and memorable stay onboard.

The guest accommodation comprises of six double suites and a full-beam VIP stateroom, all of which reside on the main deck. Each suite is designed with unmatched attention to detail, ensuring the highest standards of comfort and luxury. The full-beam VIP stateroom offers a grand and immersive experience, featuring a spacious layout and stunning panoramic views from the windows.

The three forward-most cabins can be isolated to create a private family apartment, providing guests with the flexibility to adapt the accommodation as per their needs. The thoughtful design of these cabins allows guests to enjoy an exclusive and intimate stay onboard.

The upper deck of Symphony is entirely dedicated to the owner’s suite, offering unmatched privacy and luxury. It comprises of his-and-hers offices, en suites, and dressing rooms, along with a bedroom boasting sweeping 360-degree views. The suite also provides access to a private terrace with a spa pool and sunpads, creating an exclusive haven for relaxation.

In addition to guest accommodations, Symphony also provides ample provisions for the crew. The yacht has been designed to accommodate a substantial number of crew members, ensuring that all guest needs are catered to with utmost efficiency and expertise.

Performance & Capabilities

At the heart of Symphony's mechanical capabilities is her impressive engine specification. The yacht is powered by four MTUs that feed into two shafts, producing a top speed of 22 knots when all engines are engaged. The engines and generators are housed in separate compartments, a feature that Feadship would have chosen to implement regardless of the PYC requirements, demonstrating the shipyard's commitment to safety and efficiency.

Symphony has been designed with a focus on noise reduction, ensuring that even at full speed, the yacht's guest spaces remain remarkably quiet. Feadship's meticulous engineering and development work have resulted in an environment where the only sound one can hear in the cinema is their own breathing. This level of comfort extends to all areas of the yacht, providing a serene and luxurious experience for all on board.

The yacht's range is a testament to the shipyard's innovative design and construction. Despite her impressive size, Symphony is capable of long-distance journeys, providing guests with the opportunity to explore the world's seas in unparalleled comfort and luxury.

Symphony is also equipped with state-of-the-art stabilizers, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey regardless of sea conditions. These stabilizers work to minimize rolling motion, making the yacht more comfortable for passengers and crew alike.

In terms of performance, Symphony exceeds expectations. The yacht is not only capable of high speeds but also offers exceptional maneuverability. This combination of speed and agility makes Symphony a pleasure to navigate, whether you're exploring secluded coves or cruising the open sea.

Wellness

Referred to as 'the beach' by designer Toim Heywood, a water feature runs serenely into a spa pool surrounded by seating and sun pads. The 'sand' on the sloping surface is captured in clear resin and sculpted into ripples as on a beach; with water flowing across the sand and around the pebbles, the effect is natural and restful. Silence throughout the yacht was a key requirement to the build brief and all guest areas are remarkably quiet providing a very relaxed environment. A gym, beauty salon, and massage room complete the health and wellness facilities onboard.
