Julia is a multi-award winning 49.6m motor yacht delivered by Dutch shipyard Heesen in 2015. The yacht's refined interiors have been crafted by Reymond Langton Design, while her exteriors have been penned by Clifford Denn.

Design & Construction

Designed around a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.92m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in June 2015 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2015.

Exterior Design

Julia stands out with her flowing lines that exude a sense of power and grace. Rejecting superfluous embellishments such as a helipad, the design team focused on achieving a layout that balanced aesthetics with technical prowess, eventually settling on a round-bilge hull form that blends the robust characteristics of Heesen's 47-meter displacement hulls with the agility of the semi-displacement 50-meter Satori's GA and beach club.

One of the most striking features of Julia's design is the "arrow" feature—a sharp downward, outward angle on the upper deck bulwarks—which creates a dramatic space for the bridge wing stations. This taut curve has become a defining style line for Julia, showcasing the yacht's uniqueness and the owner's desire for an identity that stands apart from other vessels in her class.

The challenge of accommodating a six-meter tender on the bow without compromising the helmsman's sightlines was ingeniously resolved by lifting the wheelhouse and raising the foredeck bulwarks. This solution not only enhanced the yacht's functionality but also contributed to its aggressive and confident profile.

Julia's dark blue hull color and wide, gentle stairs further accentuate her bold presence on the water. The yacht's exterior styling forms have been refined through previous studies and 3D models, resulting in a seamless integration of the owner's preferences and Heesen's signature design elements.

Julia's interior design is not only about aesthetics but also about creating a narrative that flows through the yacht. It is a space that is both a tribute to the past and a bold step into the future, with every centimeter reflecting the dedication and passion of those who brought this vision to life.

Interior Design

At the heart of Julia's interior is the central staircase, which serves as a stunning visual anchor for the yacht's design narrative. This important feature is highlighted by a custom light fixture by Crystal Caviar, which spans two decks and evokes the image of a luminous skyscraper. The stairs themselves are a mix of leather and ebony, with open treads that accentuate the fixture's grandeur. Complementing this is a striking intersecting lattice of LED strip lighting set within leather panels, creating an avant-garde graphic design against the backdrop of black Portoro marble.

The main saloon is crafted for both relaxation and socializing, featuring an intimate seating arrangement adjacent to a bar constructed of Macassar and backlit onyx. This extends aft through sliding glass panels, seamlessly connecting the interior with the aft deck. The dining area presents a refined elegance, with a remarkable rectangular crystal chandelier, a planked floor, ebonized tray ceiling detail, and a series of Macassar mullions and window frames that pay homage to the square motifs prevalent in the design.

The upper deck saloon offers a more subdued atmosphere, with parchment wall panels that allow the ocean vistas to take center stage. In contrast, the beach club at the lower deck is a contemporary haven of relaxation and fitness, with gym equipment, a steam room, and a bar set against a backdrop of the sea. Here, the joinery transitions to elm and teak, echoing the sandy shores, and is highlighted by a bar face of stunning backlit blue agate.

Throughout the yacht, the interior design is characterized by bold masculine shapes in joinery and scaled furniture, ensuring that each space feels bespoke and personal, rather than generic. Geometric patterns inspired by Art Deco are a recurring theme, evident in the master bathroom's mosaic tile and the metalworking artwork by Based Upon in the dining area.

Accommodation

Accommodation aboard Julia is generously laid out to welcome up to ten guests, ensuring an intimate and exclusive yachting experience. The yacht features five beautifully appointed staterooms, each an embodiment of elegance and comfort. The full-beam owner's suite, located on the main deck, stands as a testament to the yacht's commitment to luxury. It encompasses a private office, a capacious bedroom with panoramic views, and a large en suite bathroom flanked by his-and-hers dressing rooms. The suite's lavish décor includes white leather wall panels, cream carpeting, and Macassar wood furniture accentuated with stainless steel, while rich blue fabrics add a soothing contrast to the space. The pièce de résistance is a stunning silk velvet hand-painted wall covering that rises from behind the headboard, crafted by the renowned textile artist Sabina Fay Braxton.

The additional guest cabins on Julia are no less impressive, each adorned with bespoke elements that continue the overarching theme of Art Deco influence with a modern twist. The cabins are equipped with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay, including luxurious en suite bathrooms. The attention to detail is evident in the choice of high-quality materials and finishes, such as Macassar ebony, stainless steel inlays, and custom-designed murals that offer a unique visual experience in each stateroom.

As for the crew, Julia ensures that those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver an unparalleled level of service also enjoy accommodations for up to 10 that reflect the yacht's standards of quality and comfort.

Performance & Capabilities

Julia is powered by twin 1,300hp MTU 8V4000 M63 engines, a pairing that encapsulates both reliability and performance. This robust propulsion system enables Julia to achieve a remarkable top speed of 15.6 knots, surpassing her contractual speed by 0.6 knots. It is a testament to the precision of Heesen's craftsmanship and the yacht's aerodynamic design.

Efficiency is key in the world of superyachting, and Julia does not disappoint. Her advanced engineering allows her to cover significant distances with graceful ease. With her 60,000-litre fuel tanks providing a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, Julia is more than capable of long voyages, offering both owners and guests the luxury of exploring distant horizons without frequent refueling stops.

Julia's performance and mechanical capabilities reflect Heesen's commitment to innovation and excellence. With the shipyard's expertise in custom and semi-custom yachts, Julia benefits from a refined blend of cutting-edge technology and bespoke design.

The bespoke exterior of Julia reflects a dedication to creating a vessel that is not only striking in appearance but also tailored to the owner's unique vision—a vision that has undoubtedly propelled the superyacht industry into the future with its innovative and forward-thinking design.
