Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.55m beam and a 3.43m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,592 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a touch and go heli-pad.
Construction started in late 2015. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in June 2019 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in September 2019.
Exterior Design
The judging panel of the World Superyacht Awards lauded the yacht as approaching perfection, highlighting its Zen minimalism evident in both interior and exterior design. A standout engineering achievement was the creation of floor-to-ceiling windows without mullions in the main saloon, fulfilling the owner's desire for unobstructed views. These large panels posed challenges due to their bi-directional curvature, minimizing internal and external reflectivity.
Externally, the yacht 818 features a plumb bow and elongated closed stern. Main deck forward shell doors indicate tender stowage and launching points, with water-level shell doors doubling as fold-down balconies to extend the beach club. The expansive transom door, when lowered, reveals a large bathing platform. Twin staircases leading to the main deck aft are concealed until the transom door is lowered, maintaining the closed stern appearance. A hidden passerelle is integrated behind a shell door on the port side transom section.
The pristine white hull and superstructure are accented by a bold black bootstrap along the waterline, with hull glazing providing both contrast and natural light to lower deck spaces. Notable engineering includes expansive glazing on the main deck and a drop-down balcony. Smart teak-topped guardrails add a distinctive touch.
The foredeck serves multiple functions, featuring a helicopter landing pad, a spacious sun lounging area, and a concealed pool beneath a rising section of deck that forms a pergola. The centrally positioned square pool is complemented by an oval-shaped seating area aft, offering sheltered views forward.
On the main deck aft, guests can relax by an elevated pool surrounded by teak and versatile sun pads. Access to the deck level above is provided by a stairway on the starboard side, where circular banquette seating is located aft, complemented by a circular dining table that benefits from the shade of the overhang from the sky deck above.
The canopy of the striking vertical black carbon radar mast extends over the entire guest area, a unique design feature for this uppermost deck level. It creates a shaded space where guests can enjoy the bar, seating, and dining options.
Yacht 818 features an open fireplace and a spacious oval-shaped swimming pool. Additionally, a Jacuzzi is located on the sun deck. The yacht is equipped with a large spa and an elevator, ensuring accessibility throughout the yacht.
