Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.3m beam and a 3.2m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 750 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2011 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
Ed Dubois designed the yacht Holdin' My Own as an evolution of his original design for the Turquoise yacht, developed seventeen years earlier. The updated design includes an additional 18 feet and incorporates more features to accommodate the primary onboard diving activity. This includes extra storage and an inflatable decompression chamber. The renewed brief from the experienced American owner emphasized the importance of clutter-free aft decks, forward stowage for tenders, ensuring the volume of the master suite remained uncompromised, and making the yacht suitable for an active charter itinerary.
Dubois created an elegant yacht, characterized by masculine lines, boasting a slender hull shape, a high bow, and an almost flat foredeck extending aft to the vertical windows of the bridge. The foredeck primarily serves as a functional space for anchor hardware and watercraft stowage, with a telescopic light mast that remains retracted when not in use to preserve the open view across the bow. High coaming on either side provides the stowage for the two luxury tenders and breaks to allow for a central walkway, before diverging into walkways flanking the bridge.
Atop the yacht, a canopy supporting the radar mast provides shade across the bar, BBQ kitchen, and dining area on the sundeck. Forward of the canopy, ample space allows guests to bask in the sunshine, enjoy the elevated jacuzzi pool, and relax on comfortable sun pads. Further aft, a crane facilitates the easy launching and recovery of the yacht's tenders, while the canopy sides feature stepped details to add visual interest to the exterior design.
At the stern, the bathing platform is easily accessed via twin stairways descending from the main deck aft. These stairways gently flare out as they approach the platform. A sizable transom door opens to reveal equipment, a day head, and other guest amenities, ensuring convenience and comfort for all aboard.
Interior Design
London-based H2 Yacht Design was enlisted to elevate the interiors from their original, rather plain, delivery state. This was achieved by introducing Art Deco influences into the guest spaces which helped to create a more intimate and inviting atmosphere onboard. The contrast was enhanced through the use of Macassar ebony and stainless steel, complemented by beiges, whites, and greys, with accents of color such as petrol blue in the main salon.
The styling is contemporary yet comfortable. Holly Hunt lounge chairs accompany a U-shaped sofa in complementary fabrics, set against a textured grid design carpet. Light voile curtains are elegantly swept back from large windows to allow the flow of natural light, ensuring a well-balanced contrast.
Adriana Hoyos Rumba collection armchairs offer occasional seating in the salon, complemented by large armchairs in a repeating linear pattern. Plain chaise sofas invite relaxation, while a corner bar and a massive TV screen provide the amenities for an enjoyable evening in.
Classic Art Deco styling is featured within the cabins and bathrooms, with stunning cabinetry showcasing the elegance of the era. Ribbon wall lights by Porta Romana cast a gentle glow throughout.
