The global pandemic may have put yacht shows on hold, but the superyacht market itself has been booming, with full order books, soaring second-hand values and more people than ever looking to buy. The buzz around Port Hercule reflected this unique, almost disorientating, time for the industry.
An impressive 19,000 visitors visited the show and were treated to an incredible array of superyacht design. Nowhere was this design diversity more prominent than in the 30-70m size ranges, with all manner of styles, speeds and specifications on offer.
The Monaco Yacht Show has taken the time away to rehone its focus on the end-user or Owner, making sure that every visitor has access to the areas most relevant to their needs and making access to the yachts as easy as possible.
Missing out on opportunities to see yachts up close over the 2020/2021 period, visitors to the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show had a lot to cram into the four-day event, but our YachtBuyer team managed to whittle down the many yachts on display to present our top picks from 40-70m.
PANAM
Proving that biggest is not always best, even in the superyacht world, PANAM made a huge impression on everyone that saw her, showcasing some inspired next-generation thinking from its Italian builder Baglietto.
Boasting naval architecture from P.L.A.N.A. and Francesco Paszkowski Design taking care of both interior and exterior designs, she is powered by 3 x diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96L) 2,600hp engines and has fitted stabilizers giving all onboard guests a smooth voyage even on rough waters.
Exterior living is exceptional for a yacht of this size with multiple sun pads and alfresco dining options, an on-deck Jacuzzi and a spacious beach club that opens on three sides.
Abundantly lit interiors mirror the concept of closeness to the elements with extensive glazing filtering amply natural light and a color palette to match. With five cabins onboard plus a tender garage housing a range of toys and accessories, PANAM ticks a lot of boxes for an enjoyable Mediterranean cruise.

Sporting an eye-catching Carinthia blue hull, ZAZOU has the ability to make all guests and visitors feel relaxed just by stepping onboard. Interiors merge seamlessly with exterior spaces, with openness and supremely indulgent facilities that just beg you to stay onboard longer.
The list of features is vast and often reflects the harmony of this yacht's inside-outside living. An interior and open-air cinema is joined by a full beach club, infinity pool and one of the largest sun decks we have seen at this length. Away from the deck lifestyle, there is a full wellness centre.

POLESTAR
A yacht built for adventure, POLESTAR is a masterpiece of luxury exploration that can deliver global voyages thanks to her transoceanic range and Ice-Class hull.
Built by Italian shipyard Rossinavi, the 70m superyacht offers five-star entertainment with a full cinema setup, an infinity pool, fully equipped state-of-the-art gym plus indulgent wellness facilities including a beauty salon, Jacuzzi and sauna.
Without taking into account the endless cruising possibilities that POLESTAR can offer, the attention to detail is really something, with statement pieces like the helical staircase shouting sophistication and premium style throughout.
A yacht of this caliber wouldn't be complete without a private Owner's deck and POLESTAR certainly delivers. With a palatial interior with a private exterior terrace, the Owner has a unique offering of an integrated waterfall to enjoy the relaxing sound of gushing water even on the calmest of seas.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE
Multi-award-winning 72.64m (238.3ft) superyacht Quantum of Solace was a star attraction. Just looking at her from the outside, it isn't hard to see why. As the James Bond-themed name suggests, this stunning superyacht really has got a host of super indulgent gadgetry up its sleeves.
Built by Turkish shipyard Turquoise Yachts and boasting collaborative input from H2 Yacht Design and Hydro Tec S.r.l., guests onboard will never struggle for something to do with a fleet of amenities to ensure the voyage is just as luxurious and indulgent as her name suggests. A helipad on the bow and luxury tender allows easy access to and from the yacht, but there's plenty to stay onboard for.
Featuring a top-of-the-range wellness listing with a gym, eclectic collection of watersports equipment and a spa complete with a fold-down waterside terrace guests can relax before partying the night away on the Sun Deck with a DJ station.

BETTER SPACE
Monaco wouldn't be Monaco without one of Damen's striking YS (Yacht Support) vessels and this 55m YS5009 model is a fine example of its kind.
Tough, cool and full of opportunity, the YS range is ostensibly a very smart workhorse, one that can push ahead of the mothership to set up base camps or stow today's superyacht must-haves. There is space for a helipad, submersible launch and recovery, multiple tenders and extra crew accommodation.
Better Space (previously known as Time Off) is powered by four diesel Caterpillar (3512 C) 2,039hp engines and offers overnight accommodation for up to six people. The aft deck is immense with plenty of multifunctional operations to ensure guests on the mothership are entertained and served.
Away from its core Support work, these YS vessels are slowly blurring the line into standalone superyachts, their daring design, immense build quality and Damen's highly regarded craftsmanship creating the perfect rugged cruising yacht.
