The 111'11" motor yacht Zulu 3 was delivered to her owners in 2017 by Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo. Her naval architecture and interior design comes from the drawing boards of Sanlorenzo, while Francesco Paszkowski Design is responsible for her exterior design.

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 25'2" beam and a 6'7" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 266 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the eleventh yacht built on the SD112 design. Launched in December 2016 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Sanlorenzo's Viareggio yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.

Exterior Design

Zulu 3 features a flybridge accessed via the upper deck staircase. This area includes a triangular hardtop that covers a bar area equipped with four stools, a fridge, an icemaker, and a sink. Central storage houses two additional drawer fridges. Forward, an Aquasoul Jacuzzi is surrounded by seats, with chaise longues positioned to port and starboard. The helm station is forward to starboard, and the aft area includes three double sunbeds with adjustable backs.

The upper deck exterior is accessible through a four-panel fold-out glass door and has a teak floor. To starboard, there is a wet bar with a double Kenyon BBQ, a sink, a fridge, a crushed ice maker, and storage. A large teak dining table seats ten. The aft area includes two double sofa sunbeds and a shower.

At the bow, there is a lounge area with a bench seat aft and a U-shaped sofa forward around a teak table that can be lowered to form a sunpad. Lockers are located on either side of the bench for cover storage. The anchor and mooring equipment, as well as a chain and storage locker, are also found in this area.

The aft cockpit is accessed from the bathing platform via port or starboard stairs. It features a fixed aft sofa and a teak dining table that slides fore and aft. Side access gates are positioned to port and starboard.

The bathing platform and tender garage include a platform shower and 240v shore power outlets for a chase boat. These features emphasize utility and straightforward functionality in the yacht's exterior design.

Interior Design

The main deck saloon is accessed through large stainless steel surround glass doors from the cockpit. It features a bar area to port with a hidden fridge and icemaker. To starboard, there is glass storage and a Miele wine cooler. The saloon area includes an L-shaped sofa to port, two glass coffee tables, and two cube poufs set on a rug. The flooring is painted light grey wood, and the room is equipped with electric blinds and an iPad control system for blinds, lighting, and audiovisual components. The Loewe TV is mounted on an electric lift system to starboard, accompanied by a ceiling-mounted surround sound system.

The dining area is situated forward of the main saloon and includes a glass dining table with seating for ten. Storage cupboards are located to port, starboard, and aft. The forward bulkhead is finished in silk georgette marble and features a central lit area for artwork.

The main deck starboard lobby, located forward of the main saloon, includes a day head, a staircase to the lower and upper decks, and double opening doors to the starboard side deck. The main deck day head is accessed from the starboard lobby and includes a Tecma WC and handbasin. The main deck port lobby, positioned forward of the main saloon dining area, features a Miele wine fridge, two drawer fridges, a dumb waiter to the upper deck bar, and a crew/second access to the wheelhouse. It also includes double opening doors to the port side deck.

The galley is designed with functionality in mind, featuring U-shaped worktops, a Miele 90cm induction hob, an extractor, a 90cm Miele oven, a Miele microwave, a Miele dishwasher, a Sub-Zero double fridge, and four freezer drawers.

The wheelhouse, located forward on the upper deck, is separated by a glass sliding door from the upper deck saloon. It includes a Besenzoni electric helm seat and a helm station with comprehensive navigation, engine, and system controls. A navigation desk with a stool is situated to port, while an L-shaped sofa with a fold-out table is positioned to starboard.

The upper deck saloon is accessible via internal stairs from the starboard main deck lobby or external stairs from the cockpit. It features a bar area forward to port with two bar stools, a Miele dishwasher, and a dumb waiter from the lower deck. The room includes an up/down TV to port with ceiling-mounted speakers, a circular dining table aft of the bar with four chairs, and an L-shaped sofa to starboard around a coffee table. The upper deck day head is located forward to starboard and includes a Tecma WC and handbasin.

Accommodation

The owner's cabin is situated forward on the main deck and is accessible from the starboard lobby. The entrance hall includes wardrobes on the port side and storage cupboards with a pull-out dressing seat on the starboard side. The central double berth faces aft under a large forward window, flanked by bedside tables with storage and reading lights. Additional storage cupboards are located under the expansive windows on both sides. Entertainment is provided by a Loewe TV mounted on the aft mirrored bulkhead, complemented by a ceiling-mounted surround sound system controlled via iPad. The cabin is furnished with a cream carpet and electric window blinds for added comfort.

The owner's bathroom is located aft of the cabin, providing additional sound separation. It features his and her sinks with storage, a large shower with marble walls and a seat, and a toilet area with a Tecma WC, hydrobrush, and bidet.

The VIP cabin, which can serve as a second master suite, is located forward from the lower deck lobby. Upon entering, guests will find a walk-in wardrobe on the port side. The central double berth is accompanied by bedside tables with lamps and storage. Additional amenities include a desk/vanity unit with a stool on the port side and a sofa on the starboard side. Entertainment is handled by a Loewe TV with ceiling-mounted speakers. The cabin is fitted with a light cream carpet and electric blinds.

Situated aft to port from the lower deck lobby, this cabin includes a double bed, bedside tables with reading lights, a large hanging wardrobe, and storage cupboards. A vanity desk with a stool is also provided. Entertainment comes via a Loewe TV with ceiling-mounted speakers, and the cabin is carpeted in light cream. 

Mirroring the port guest cabin, the starboard guest cabin is located aft to starboard from the lower deck lobby. It includes a double bed, bedside tables with reading lights, a large hanging wardrobe, and storage cupboards. A vanity desk with a stool is also provided. Entertainment is available through a Loewe TV with ceiling-mounted speakers, and the cabin is fitted with a light cream carpet.

Crew accommodations are accessible from the forward staircase in the galley. The crew mess area includes an L-shaped sofa, table, and a crew galley equipped with a microwave, fridge, sink, and storage. Crew members can also utilize a TV that repeats the main wheelhouse Raymarine screen, plus a Raymarine A65 MFD and ship monitoring screen. The crew area consists of three cabins: the captain's cabin with a small double bed and ensuite bathroom, and two additional bunk cabins, each with its own ensuite. The laundry area, located further forward, includes two Miele washing machines and two Miele dryers, along with additional fridge and freezer space in the crew bilge area.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M72) 1,224hp engines, motor yacht Zulu 3 is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 7,925 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 2,750 nautical miles at 11 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
