Damen Yachting launches FIVE OCEANS explorer yacht

Damen Yachting has unveiled and launched YS5302 FIVE OCEANS, the second Yacht Support 53 in the builder's YS53 series.

The 53m (174t) vessel was launched in Antalya, Turkey, at the Damen Yachting build facility, ahead of its scheduled delivery this year. The explorer yacht features an interior and exterior design by Damen Yachting, carefully crafted to reflect the owner's preferences. With accommodation for eight guests, ten crew members, and the captain.

FIVE OCEANS

Built for purpose, FIVE OCEANS has a dive center and staterooms for six to seven couples and/or researchers. A Triton Submarines 330 Pro sub will be aboard, too, with modifications for ocean data gathering.

Every aspect of the explorer aligns with its owner, Tommy Allen’s objectives to traverse the world's oceans for the next three years, gathering additional data on underwater environments. As an experienced diver, Allen’s company Five Oceans Global Solutions, employs cutting-edge technology for conscientious exploration of ocean depths, aiming to discover and safeguard certain unknown areas.

You can sleep on it, fly off of it, and move it. We never viewed it as a ‘yacht,’ in terms of a white yacht. For us, it was a platform, it was a place to do all the incredible things that we wanted to do.”

Powered by a pair of MTU engines, FIVE OCEANS is capable of 5,000nm at a speed of 12 knots.

Allen already owns another explorer vessel, the 67m (220ft) YS 6711 GEO, which he acquired in 2018 and used to explore waters in areas like Papua New Guinea.

Seeing her out in the open and ready for the final stages of her build before her delivery just a couple of months from now is the start of something truly exciting.
