Heesen launches “elaborate” 60m superyacht project FALCON

The superyacht project FALCON features a number of unusual design elements, prominent use of lighting and a striking “bird’s wing” motif.

The Heesen 60m (197ft) superyacht project FALCON has hit the water, sporting an eye-catching “bird’s wing” motif and what the yard has called “one of the most elaborate and sophisticated designs in the shipyard’s history”.

Featuring clean and chiseled exterior lines by Omega Architects and a strong and muscular profile, the motor yacht features a number of unusual design elements, including a reception area on the sundeck to welcome guests arriving by helicopter.

“Heesen‘s design and engineering teams enjoyed working with our client‘s people on Project Falcon,” said Rick van de Wetering, the shipyard‘s COO. “This has been an immensely complex but satisfying project, which has given rise to some very creative solutions.”

Omega Architects was also responsible for the “bird’s wing” motif that serves to integrate the main deck, bridge and sundeck without interrupting the horizontal sweep of the windows. The 1,060GT yacht also features floor-to-ceiling glass which, when coupled with lowered bulwarks, ensures panoramic views and plenty of natural light.

Light is a strong feature in the design of motor yacht project FALCON, and accentuates the architecture of the yacht, for instance impressive underwater lights produce a glow around the boat at night.

Sinot Yacht and Architecture Design penned the elegant and intricate interior design, which was planned to the finest detail as Paul Costerus of Sinot explains: “Each detail was crafted to meet the highest standards of sophistication and opulence,” he said. “The Sinot ethos for distinctive aesthetics is seen in the use of rare woods and veneers, fine fabrics, exquisite leathers, and bespoke metal and glass, as well as custom-built furniture and lighting.”

The six stateroom yacht also features separate routing for up to 15 crew and staff, so they can work as discreetly as possible.

Twin MTU 12V4000 M65L diesel engines give a top speed of 17.5 knots and a range of 4,200nm at 13 knots.

Project Falcon is remaining at Heesen’s yacht for commissioning before moving to Rotterdam to proceed for trials and tests in the North Sea ahead of her planned delivery in December.

Dutch yard Heesen has become known for offering potential owners shorter than normal delivery times, with most of its builds being semi-custom projects based on pre-defined hull shapes, albeit with a good level of customization still available above the water.

The yard has another ten yachts alongside superyacht project FALCON currently in its order book. All are 49.9m or above and will be delivered over the next ten years.
