Delivered in 1989, Aries is a 110' motor yacht for sale built by Chinese shipyard Cheoy Lee. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Jack Hargrave.
Key Features
- Expansive sky lounge
- Large windows in main salon
- Dual davit cranes on the boat deck
- Range of 4,500 nautical miles
Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement composite hull and superstructure she features a 22'9" beam and a 6'5" draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 218 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Aries features a raked bow that contributes to its sleek and streamlined appearance. The yacht's exterior is predominantly white, with the hull and superstructure both painted in this classic color. The boot top and antifoul areas are black, creating a stark contrast that emphasizes the vessel's clean lines.
Aries has walk-around side decks, which facilitate easy movement and access throughout the exterior. The boat deck, located behind the skybridge, is equipped with two robust davits, each with a 1,500-pound capacity, which is a notable feature for a yacht of this size. This area also includes an alfresco dining space, accommodating six to eight people, and a full-size grill with storage below. Lighting is provided by exterior speakers and spotlights, ensuring the deck is functional even at night.
The aft deck has been improved to include access to the water via stairwells on both the port and starboard sides, leading down to the swim platform. This modification addresses a previous design oversight and enhances the yacht’s usability for water activities. The swim platform also houses essential utilities like shore power connections and offers a practical space for line handling.
Interior Design
The main salon features large, inviting windows on either side of the sliding doors, allowing natural light to flood the space and offering excellent views. The built-in couch has been re-upholstered, and the wood joinery has been re-varnished and re-stained, giving the room an updated look. A modern audiovisual and stereo system has been installed throughout the entire yacht, enhancing the onboard entertainment experience.
The salon includes a stand-up bar with an ice maker, refrigerator, and seating for four to five people, providing a convenient space for refreshments. Moving forward, the formal dining area offers seating for eight, surrounded by ample storage. The windows in this area contribute to the open and airy atmosphere.
The galley is equipped with a full-size oven, convection oven with exhaust fan, two refrigerators, a stainless dishwasher, and generous counter space. This area is designed with practicality in mind, ensuring that both crew and guests have everything they need for meal preparation and service.
The wheelhouse, located in the forward half of the SkyBridge, serves as the command center of Aries. It features updated transmission gear controls, a proper steering wheel, and easy access to the bow thruster. The large windows provide excellent visibility, which is a significant improvement over many boats from the same era.
The skybridge also includes a bar on the starboard side and a mission control area with an observation space. The radar arch holds the satellite antenna and GPS antennas, essential for long voyages.
Accommodation
Aries offers accommodation suitable for up to eight guests, distributed across four staterooms. The master stateroom, located on the lower deck, is the most significant cabin, boasting a large footprint and a king-size berth. There is ample space on either side of the bed, making it easy to move around. The stateroom features a built-in couch, a full walk-in closet, a linen closet, an entertainment system, and a vanity or desk. The ensuite bathroom is finished with marble floors, Corian countertops, updated heads, and new showers.
There are two additional guest staterooms on the lower deck. Each stateroom is equipped with an island queen bed, an updated TV with a soundbar, and ensuite bathrooms similar in finish to the master stateroom, featuring marble floors, Corian countertops, updated heads, and new showers. The decor and amenities have been updated, ensuring a contemporary and pleasant environment for guests.
The VIP stateroom is located on the main deck, providing convenient access and ample space, often comparable to a second master suite. This stateroom includes a king-size bed, a TV, an entertainment system, and a built-in vanity. The ensuite bathroom has been updated to match the style and luxury of the other staterooms. The VIP stateroom also offers considerable storage space, with double door storage and additional compartments.
Aries accommodates a professional crew in three staterooms, all with ensuite heads. The captain's quarters feature a double berth that can sleep two if needed. Forward, there are two additional crew quarters with over-under bunks. The crew areas also include a common area with a galley, a table, and a built-in ice maker, ensuring that the crew can perform their duties efficiently while enjoying comfort during their downtime.
There is a dedicated laundry center equipped with a Miele washer and dryer, ensuring that laundry needs are met without inconvenience. There is also a thruster room with a commercial ice maker and two additional freezers, enhancing the functionality of the crew quarters.
