Cheoy Lee Yachts, the superyacht division of Cheoy Lee Shipyards, has unveiled its latest model, the 127 Discovery. The new explorer yacht, designed in collaboration with Nick Boksa of Boksa Marine Design, aims to support luxurious adventures to exotic destinations around the globe.
Drawing on his expertise in both luxury yachts and commercial maritime vessels, Nick Boksa designed the 39m (127ft) 127 Discovery with a sea-kindly and serviceable full-displacement steel hull, complete with a sharp entry and spray chine, ensuring smooth and efficient navigation.
The exterior of the 127 Discovery motor yacht resembles a commercial ship with its forward-positioned pilothouse for enhanced visibility. The yacht's center of gravity is intentionally low for better stability, and the yacht tender is conveniently stored on the aft main deck instead of the flybridge. The beach club, located inside the transom hatch, can be securely closed when needed.
The interior, created by Sylvia Bolton of Sylvia Bolton Design, is described as "classic yet comfortable," featuring five ensuite staterooms for up to 10 guests, including a full-beam master suite on the main deck. The formal saloon and dining area are perfect for entertaining, while the bridge-deck skylounge and sun deck (complete with sinks, refrigerators, a BBQ, day head, and jacuzzi) provide spaces for relaxation.
The explorer yacht can be operated with a smaller crew, yet it offers comfortable quarters for up to 11 crew members, including a rare bridge-deck captain’s cabin and an engineer’s cabin aft of the engine room. The galley is equipped with a walk-in freezer and crew lounge, and a dumbwaiter serves all four decks, enhancing the efficiency of food service.
Drawing on the commercial maritime background we share, our mission was to create an expedition yacht under 150ft that still has the luxury, seaworthiness, and serviceability to let owners fulfill their dreams of global discovery in safety and comfort."
