Italian shipyard Rossinavi and designer Yves Béhar have joined forces to introduce SOLSEA, a 43m electric hybrid catamaran concept that aims to redefine sustainable yachting.
Unveiled at Design Miami, this multihull yacht is crafted for eco-conscious adventurers. Designed for those who relish ocean exploration and watersports, SOLSEA offers luxury without compromising its green credentials.
The catamaran is engineered to tackle various voyages while minimizing its carbon footprint. For day trips, she runs entirely on electric power. Over multi-day journeys, the yacht cruises 90% of the time on electric energy. Even on transatlantic crossings, SOLSEA can operate in electric mode for 80% of the journey.
Charging is no hassle either — utilizing shore power, the catamaran can be recharged fully in just five hours. When moored, its hibernation mode cuts energy use, allowing the solar panels — integrated into the shading structures — to soak up renewable energy to feed power back to the quay or even supply a villa.
Another standout feature is the Rossinavi AI Technology. This onboard system enhances comfort and elevates the yacht’s eco-friendly capabilities by learning from guest interactions and anticipating their needs. The AI system also guides the crew on sustainable practices, ensuring operations are efficient and reduce environmental impact; it even keeps the battery pack within an optimal range to prolong its life.
Inside, Yves Béhar's design reflects the sea's calming influence, resulting in soft lines, matte wood tones, and bouclé textiles to create a warm atmosphere.
Sustainable materials such as Amorim's durable cork flooring reflect Béhar's commitment to using 100% ocean plastic onboard.
Now, let's dive into the main features. SOLSEA's innovative hydraulic rear platform transforms the area, offering a full-width door that opens up for watersports and activities. It’s a clever use of space that means you're never short of room to enjoy.
The owner’s cabin is also something to write home about. Spanning the catamaran platform's width, it offers a massive 70 sqm space, complete with a 180-degree view and a private balcony linking both hulls. Imagine waking up to those views every morning!
Forward on the main deck, you'll find a lounge pool. It's got a mechanical hard-top that can lower during navigation, keeping the area ready for relaxation.
The sundeck is where the new multihull yacht truly shines though. Picture an elevated bar flowing into a raised lounge area — a perfect spot for gatherings or soaking in panoramic views. The skylight even opens up to let in the breeze.
SOLSEA also features an eco-displacement hull that enhances hydrodynamic efficiency, reducing emissions, noise, and vibrations for a smooth, quiet journey.
