Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 16.3m beam and a 4.6m draft when fully loaded. The yacht is built over four decks with an internal volume of 5,528 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates two certified helicopter landing areas, one on the foredeck and the second on the sun deck aft. The T values are 4.3 tons and the D-value is 13 meters.
Construction started in late 2018 with the keel laid under the project name '1010'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in August 2022, this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. The yacht left the Netherlands for the United States in February 2024 for delivery to her new owner.
Exterior Design
Launchpad, the largest Feadship at the time of her launch, though briefly holding that title, is a testament to extraordinary yacht design. Espen Oino's unique exterior lines set her apart, with her sheer size requiring over 12 hours to free from the construction shed, despite the softer, flowing lines created in this latest collaboration with the Dutch boatbuilding giant.
The 118m yacht features a distinctive midnight-blue hull with elongated vertical oval-shaped portholes from the bow to amidships, flipping to horizontal to define the open side deck-covered walkway leading to the aft of the lower deck. Oino's design introduces softer lines and curves to the exterior, with a heavily raked white superstructure starting above the main deck. This design is interrupted at amidships by a shallow arched extension of midnight blue, creating a striking, flowing element akin to an arched eyebrow. Above this 'eyebrow', a second, shallower, and wider arch gracefully emerges, forming a curve between the bridge deck and the observation deck. Between the two arches, the roof of the upper deck elegantly dips to meet the main deck, adding a captivating visual element.
A standout feature of Launchpad, known as Project 1010 throughout her build, is the curved glass observation area on the top deck. This observation lounge showcases a unique pod-style upper deck encased in glass, nestled just under the mast, adding an intriguing touch to the yacht's design.
Launchpad's exterior styling is notably feminine compared to other Oino and Feadship creations, with warm wood and curves creating a softer feel. The pool is curved and set into the main deck aft, with decks covered by long overhangs to avoid a stark appearance. A helipad is incorporated into the foredeck, with the extensive aft on the sundeck providing space for a touch-and-go helicopter. From the helipad on the main deck, steps lead down to the accommodation level, though the overhang from the deck above may limit light to this area.
An aerial perspective reveals the curvature of the seating forward on two levels, from the helicopter deck down to the guest area on the main deck, integrating with the jacuzzi on the upper deck. Moving aft, the superstructure gracefully provides two rounded aft decks. In this design, Espen Oino opts for a departure from grand staircases at the transom, maintaining a clear and open area within the sweeping arches, where the structure elegantly flows up to the main deck.
Interior Design
Launchpad epitomizes comfort and relaxation with a soft color palette featuring shades of cream and white, complemented by light-colored wood, and occasionally accented with darker tones for variety. Classic, simple chandeliers add elegance without overwhelming intricacy. Guest accommodations are marked by simplicity, with textured doorways and smooth walls.
Luxury on Launchpad is subtly woven throughout, avoiding ostentation while hinting at the yacht's inherent grandeur. The design incorporates minimal straight lines, opting for curved furniture to enhance the natural flow of spaces. Glossy finishes on many pieces reflect light
Aft deck styling includes furniture crafted in plantation-grown teak. These chairs prioritize comfort without compromising style, a theme that runs throughout the yacht. Bean bag-style chairs in cappuccino leather provide comfort on the observation deck.
Transitioning from the deck relaxation area to the yacht's entrance, guests are greeted by a large, swirling, and eye-catching fish-inspired metallic sculpture. This sculptural theme continues within the staircase, accompanied by a backdrop of geometric wood paneling design.
On the lower deck, the cinema room features dark blue as the focal color. Deep chocolate hues adorn the walls, complemented by dark wood insets gently illuminated by soft downlighters, maintaining a subtle ambiance before the lights dim, setting the stage for an immersive movie experience.
Accommodation
Launchpad offers 486m² of guest accommodation areas, with an additional 213m² dedicated to the owner's suite. In total, Launchpad can welcome 24 to 34 guests across 12 cabins. The two guest cabins on the bridge deck can be used for four to six personal household staff.
The owner's deck features a circular stone and glass jacuzzi on the foredeck.
