Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 16.8m beam and a 4m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 5,054 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2019 with the keel laid under the project name 'Celerius'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in December 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2023.
Exterior Design
The yacht's black hull is particularly striking, crafted to look monolithic and convey a sense of sleek sophistication. Liva's decks are bare, with a minimal superstructure that allows the pure form of the hull to make a strong visual impact. This design approach prioritizes outdoor space, enabling guests to fully engage with the changing landscapes around them. Dirand's vision was to create a yacht that is timeless and contemporary, with exterior styling reminiscent of the refined elegance found in 1940s design, yet transformed for a modern context.
For those who enjoy swimming, the main deck offers a pool measuring 12 x 4 meters with a floor that can be elevated to the deck above. The pool area is finished with liquid marble, creating a visual connection to the sea when the floor is raised, while the pool walls and surrounding spaces are also finished in marble for a cohesive and elegant look.
At the mast's base, a crow's nest offers guests an exceptional vantage point for observation, and the forward sundeck features a large marble-clad fireplace surrounded by a circular sofa, providing a welcoming space for relaxation and social interaction.
In addition, Liva is equipped with a fully certified helicopter pad on the sky deck, ensuring convenient access to and from the yacht, and allowing guests to reach remote destinations with ease.
The two tender garages on Liva are thoughtfully designed to house a range of vessels and equipment. The larger garage on the Lower Deck can accommodate a custom 52-foot day tender, while the forward garage on the Main Deck includes space for three additional tenders and a Triton Submersible, alongside various water toys, bicycles, and dive gear.
Interior Design
The interior design of Liva, envisioned by Joseph Dirand Architecture, exudes a serene simplicity that belies the yacht's sophisticated design. Echoing Dirand's architectural prowess, the spaces within Liva are characterized by clean lines and a harmonious balance between form and function. The materials chosen for the interior reflect a preference for natural elegance; the use of rare marbles, polished woods, and soft materials create an atmosphere of understated luxury.
The Neptune Lounge is another significant aspect, featuring a large underwater window measuring 3.40m x 1.30m. This allows guests to observe marine life and the underwater environment from the comfort of a luxurious lounge setting.
Accommodation
Liva O offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 33 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Performance & Capabilities
Liva's power lies in her innovative diesel-electric propulsion system, ensuring quiet navigation and maneuvering. The yacht is propelled by two electric motors from RAMME Electric Machines GmbH (2,950hp), each delivering 2200 kW of power. These motors were supplied by SER Schiffselektronik Rostock GmbH.
Electrical power is crucial for Liva's operations, and this is provided by a robust setup of generators. Two main generators from Caterpillar, each rated at 2240 kW, are coupled with three auxiliary generators, each offering 599 kW of power, all supplied by Zeppelin Power Systems. This configuration affords Liva an uninterrupted power supply, which is critical for the various systems on board.
Maneuverability is a key aspect of any yacht's operation, and Liva is equipped with four VOITH thrusters to ensure precise movements in various maritime conditions. These thrusters enable Liva to navigate with agility and ease, befitting a yacht of her stature.
Onboard comfort, especially during transit, is enhanced by four stabilizer fins from SKF. These fins are designed to reduce the yacht's roll, providing a stable and comfortable experience for all on board, whether at anchor or cruising.
In terms of navigation, Liva's underwater anchors on the keel offer an innovative solution replacing traditional anchor pockets. This feature not only maintains the yacht's sleek profile but also contributes to her streamlined efficiency.
