Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.2m beam and a 3.36m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,416 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a touch and go heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in December 2018 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2019.
Exterior Design
With her high bow and towering decks, Scout's exterior exudes a sense of power and purpose. Her massive grey hull not only commands attention but also testifies to her readiness for open seas and far horizons. The big shoulders, formed by a sundeck arch, envelope the superstructure, adding to her robust visual appeal.
One of the standout features of Scout’s exterior is the helipad on the mooring deck, indicating her readiness for far-flung adventures. The yacht also boasts a large sundeck, a place for relaxation and enjoyment of the sea and fresh air. This sundeck, completely open from front to back, has been meticulously designed to include elevator access and a dayhead, all subtly incorporated into the arch.
The profile of Scout is distinctly masculine, with a husky look that further emphasizes its robustness. A large crane on the foredeck, a unique knuckle-boom crane with an 8,000kg lifting capacity, is another testament to the yacht's serious intent for adventure. It fits the length of a new forward tender bay, located behind the raised helipad, while maintaining a low profile for forward visibility from the lounge.
What makes Scout truly unique, however, is the level of customization and attention to detail in her design. All of the bulwarks were enclosed for the safety of the dogs, and the hull was strengthened down to the keel to support the crane and helicopter load. Every aspect of Scout's exterior design has been carefully thought through, making her not just a means of travel, but a home away from home.
Interior Design
Resplendent with a blend of industrial chic and unique touches of creativity, the interior design of Scout offers an unparalleled luxury yachting experience. The vessel's design is inspired by the expansive sea and the boundless sky, with a touch of speculative fiction, reminiscent of the futuristic dreams imagined by Jules Verne and Fritz Lang.
As you step inside, you're greeted by the main salon, which serves as the centerpiece of Scout's interior. During the day, this space is a bright and airy sanctuary, thanks to the full-height windows that allow natural light to stream in. But when night falls, the salon transforms into an enchanting spectacle with a large LED screen in the ceiling. This screen, which can project any image from peaceful clouds to a starry night sky, transforms the room into a captivating space.
Adding to the salon's charm is a unique round coffee table, handcrafted from solid aluminium and plated with nickel. The surface of the table is designed to mimic rippled water, providing a stunning reflection of the images projected from the LED screen above.
Scout's interior is also home to a one-of-a-kind greenhouse, perfect for those with a passion for gardening. The greenhouse includes an enclosed teak shade house and a potting shed with ample room for garden tools and pots.
Accommodation
The yacht comes with a master suite and four identical guest cabins, each with its own distinctive color scheme. The guest cabins, located forward of the main lobby, provide ample space and feature oversized windows made of toughened glass providing stunning views of the surrounding seascape.
The master suite is a world unto itself. Entered through a library filled with a selection of eclectic books and nautical antiques, a corridor leads to large bathrooms on either side, flanked by dressing areas. The suite itself is the size of a Manhattan studio apartment and feels even larger, thanks to the private terrace or “puppy park” beyond. The aft-facing bed is backed by panels of bubble glass, and the high-gloss ceiling is sculpted to mimic waves, creating a serene and tranquil ambience.
Crew accommodation is also meticulously planned and constructed. The crew spaces, storage, and circulation pathways are expansive and can accommodate up to 18. This highlights the yacht's commitment to not only provide luxury for its guests but also ensure the comfort and ease of the crew who make it all possible.
Performance & Capabilities
The yacht is equipped with an impressive range of mechanical capabilities and features. With a length of nearly 64 metres, Scout is built for power and endurance. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512C) 1,575hp engines running at 1800rpm, Scout is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 159,000-litre fuel tanks, she has a maximum range of 4,800 nautical miles at an economic speed of 12 knots.
Scout's performance capabilities are further enhanced by its ice-classed steel hull, which was designed by the respected Dutch studio Diana Yacht Design. This feature allows Scout to traverse icy waters, expanding the range of destinations the yacht can explore.
Scout also features stabilizers, which ensure a smooth and comfortable ride even in rough seas. These stabilizers reduce the roll motion effect and result in improved seaworthiness, thereby enhancing comfort for those on board.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht.
