Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 9.65m beam and a 2.8m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 527 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in mid 2003. Launched in July 2004 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2004.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Triton is characterized by a raked bow, which enhances both its aesthetic appeal and hydrodynamic efficiency. The deck is constructed from high-quality teak, offering durability and a classic maritime look. The hull is finished in a sleek grey color, providing a modern and understated appearance. The superstructure of the yacht is painted white, creating a clean and crisp contrast with the hull. A red boot top stripe adds a subtle touch of color and distinction. Below the waterline, the yacht is colored black, ensuring a cohesive and polished look.

The signal mast and crow's nest structure are positioned towards the aft of the flybridge deck. This placement ensures an unobstructed sight line from the topmost helm station to the cockpit, aiding the captain during various maneuvers, such as backing down on marlin.

The exterior decks are designed with deliberate practicality. The bridge deck lounge can be seamlessly opened to the covered aft deck with sliding doors that disappear into side pockets. For cooler climates, the covered exterior lounge can be enclosed with isinglass panels and lexan side doors, creating a sun-porch environment. The overhead joinery of the interior lounge extends to the covered exterior lounge, providing visual continuity. Sunset-weave mahogany panels isolate the bridge for night running or can be retracted for a panoramic view forward.

Interior Design

The interior design of Triton focuses on both functionality and aesthetics, with a clear emphasis on art deco elements. The interior spaces are characterized by a mix of light and dark woods, stainless steel accents, and nautical-themed fixtures.

The main deck salon and dining area feature mid-to-deep tones of open fern-pattern khaya wainscot, complemented by chair rails and baseboards made of Honduran mahogany and wenge. The bridge deck lounge incorporates wall panels of quarter-figure anigre, brightening the space. Stainless steel kick plates in a tiered pattern appear on interior doors, reinforcing the art deco theme.

The bridge deck lounge is designed for versatility; it can be opened to the covered aft deck through sliding doors that disappear into side pockets. This setup allows for an open-air environment or an enclosed space with isinglass panels and lexan side doors for cooler climates. The overhead joinery in the exterior lounge mirrors that of the interior lounge, ensuring a smooth visual transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

In the galley, a raised, curved settee with an informal dining table faces a commercial-grade kitchen area. This space serves the 10-place dining room, and a divider between the dining and saloon areas conceals a 50-inch plasma TV. The TV is flanked by built-in speaker towers finished in a fan motif, adding to the overall art deco style.

The helm stations are designed with practicality in mind. The signal mast and crow's nest structure above the flybridge deck are positioned to provide a clear sight line from the topmost helm station to the cockpit. This facilitates both navigation and monitoring activities on deck.

Furnishings throughout Triton are understated and inviting. Earth tones dominate the upholstery, carpet, wall coverings, and overheads, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The design choices aim to balance the vibrant outdoor activities with comfortable and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces.

Accommodation

Triton can host up to 10 guests in well-appointed staterooms. Located forward on the main deck, the owner's suite features a bedroom and master bath positioned to port, with ample space for a starboard-side lounge equipped with an entertainment center.

The lower deck houses four staterooms. These include a king-bed VIP suite and three additional suites. Each of the three suites features a queen-size berth and a fold-down Pullman-style berth, reflecting the owners' consideration for hosting children, grandchildren, and other families.

Crew accommodations are located forward and can house up to 10 crew members in four double-bunk staterooms, plus a captain's double and a crew lounge. This arrangement allows for flexibility in staffing, ensuring that additional support staff such as a pilot, naturalist, guide, tutor, or nanny can be accommodated as needed for specific voyages.

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3508B) 8-cylinder 1,000hp engines running at 1600rpm, motor yacht Triton is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots.
