The A Group has unveiled its latest design concept, the “against-the-grain” 80m (262.5ft) 'Project Comete'.
Project Comete is actually an evolution of an idea from A Group Designer Thibaud Le Merdy that saw him named Boat International’s Young Designer of the Year two years ago.
The innovative concept seeks to take a number of traditional design elements and present them in a fresh way that challenges preconceived notions around the layout of a superyacht.
Perhaps most noticeable is a subversion of the traditional main deck layout with a large open but sheltered area forward.
"I wanted to go away from the traditional superstructure, to link the hull and superstructure together," says Thibaud Le Merdy. "I would say it’s fresh. It’s a fresh boat."
Comete also features two full glass pools and expansive private space at the bow.
The A Group has penned some eye-catching superyachts since its inception in 1985. Its largest design is the Kusch Yachts built 100.8m (330.7ft) I Dynasty, with the 95m (311.6ft) Oceanco superyacht H not far behind. It was also the designer behind the award-winning superyachts 62.6m (205ft) Lucky Lady, 52.8m (173ft) FRIENDSHIP, 49.38m (162ft) Anna J, 43.8m (144ft) Deep Blue II and 42.37m (139ft) IDEFIX.
The A Group was set up by co-founder of Oceanco Richard Hein and the two companies have worked on a number of projects together.
Whilst Project Comete is just a concept, there are many incredible yachts already on the water. If you would like to make a purchase you can start your search today by viewing all new and pre-owned yachts for sale.
