Dock Maarten, strategically situated near St Maarten's capital Philipsburg, enjoys proximity to renowned attractions like Front Street shopping district, the Boardwalk, and the Cruise Ship Piers with over 1.4 million annual arrivals.
This ideal location makes Dock Maarten an integral part of the vibrant yachting scene in the region. Nestled in the accessible Great Bay open to the Caribbean Sea, the marina is a convenient stopover for pleasure boaters heading to St Barths, St. Kitts, Nevis, or exploring Philipsburg.
The marina is undergoing expansion to better cater to the superyacht industry, introducing a 187m (613ft) superyacht dock. This expansion positions it among the largest private marina slips in the Caribbean. The new structure serves as a multifunctional breakwater for the upgraded superyacht marina's inner basin.
Constructed with a robust 12-meter (39ft) width, the breakwater utilizes securely driven and fastened 12-meter-long sheet piles, enhancing Dock Maarten's capabilities. This development allows the marina to offer extensive shipyard services, accommodating 100-ton cranes or larger on both sides. Additionally, the spacious design facilitates easy access for fuel trucks and other service vehicles, marking a significant improvement in the marina's overall offerings and capabilities.
Dock Maarten is set to provide a diverse range of guest experiences, retail options, and refreshments, all within an upscale yacht club ambiance on the water.
The Strand will offer a vibrant blend of boutique and specialty retailers amid spacious outdoor seating areas, lush landscaping, and a distinctive park element, setting it apart from other pier developments in the Caribbean.
As night falls, the area transforms with a captivating light show, serving as a beacon for Philipsburg and St Maarten. Dock Maarten's offerings include standalone retail buildings featuring delights like ice cream and beverages for all ages. The Port in a Boxx branded beach club, overlooking a crescent of sheltered white sand beach, adds to the allure. Additionally, a Port in a Boxx Bar and Grill, complete with its pool, graces the dockside amidst the luxury of super yachts moored at the marina.
The construction of the new dock involved a collaborative effort between Dock Maarten, Vanthek Projects, Caribbean General Contractors (C.G.C.), and Koole. Vanthek handled the piling works, C.G.C. managed the majority of civil works, including earthworks, concrete works, utilities, and landscaping. Koole took charge of dredging works and provided support in sheet pile acquisition. Dock Maarten contributed with their divers, dredging equipment, and various earth-moving machinery, actively participating in the project's success.
