Doors set to open for revamped Miami International Boat Show

The 2022 event combines three popular Miami-based events into one show, that will kick off on Wednesday (16 February).

The Sunshine State of Florida is preparing to open its doors to a new look Miami International Boat Show, with the first day of the revamped event just 48 hours away.

For the first time ever, three separate Miami-based events are merging into one, with the Miami International Boat Show, the Miami Yacht Show and Superyacht Miami joining forces under the Miami International Boat Show name.

Running from 16 February to 20 February, the fleet of superyachts on display at the show is down in numbers on previous years, due in part to the effects on international travel of the Coronavirus pandemic, but also reflecting the incredible sales activity we have seen across the US market. Sales of superyachts in the States are booming, with a smaller brokerage fleet and limited new build availability the inevitable outcome, demand most certainly outstripping supply.

“Interest and demand for boating are near all-time highs and we look forward to welcoming new and existing boaters from around the world to discover the best in boating on display throughout our five exciting on-land and in-water locations,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, the National Marine Manufacturers President.

Four other areas will play host to other parts of the show including the IGY Yacht Haven Grande at Island Gardens where the largest and most luxurious yachts of the show will be found.

Topping the list of the most high-profile superyachts will be eco-focused pair of Amels, 54.86m (180ft) ‘Gene Machine’ and its Damen Yachting support vessel 55.5m (182ft) ‘Gene Chaser’. The two superyachts are working in tandem to explore the planet’s genes with a view to combating global warming and cleaning up the oceans and the air.
