Feadship’s 55m (180.4ft) superyacht SOMNIUM is moving closer to being handed over to her Owner and embarking on a global tour.
The custom-superyacht emerged from the yard’s facilities in Aalsmeer this week for finishing and sea trials. After being handed over to her sports-loving Owner, SOMNIUM will be taking three generations of family members on a series of world cruises.
Taking her name from the Latin word for dream, SOMNIUM was designed by Studio De Voogt with an interior design from FM Architettura. The experienced Northern European Owner was heavily involved in the build process, making bi-weekly visits to the yard and regularly joining the Feadship build team for a beer on a Friday.
Her smooth exterior profile reflects the Owner’s love of fast cars, whilst her aluminium hull enhances efficiency and ensures a shallow draft.
Her highlights include vast outside decks which feature an exclusive foredeck lounge area, a pool with an adjustable floor on the aft deck and a Jacuzzi island on the sun deck. Details of the interior are still to be revealed but we do know she will feature a gym with fold-down platform, a full-beam Owners’ stateroom with balcony and four large guest suites on the lower deck.
SOMNIUM is another example of the large superyachts that have become a hallmark of Feadship, a marketing alliance formed by several Dutch shipyards and designers. It has delivered almost 50 yachts over the past decade with an average length of 66.7m (218.8ft), the largest of which is 110m (360.8ft) ANNA delivered in 2018.
They have a number of other big projects in the pipeline which include Feadship 1010 and Feadship 821. With both measuring 118m (387ft) they will not only be the yard’s biggest projects, but also the largest Dutch-built yachts upon their deliveries.
