Nobiskrug has taken a further step on its journey to financial recovery with the announcement that it has signed a contract for a “major order”.
Full details on the project are scarce at the moment, but the yard did say the superyacht is set to enter the final outfitting phase, with the delivery of the vessel planned for mid-2022.
“The contract signing marks another major step towards achieving set goals for Nobiskrug,” says CEO Philipp Maracke. “It also underlines the yacht owner’s appreciation of our expertise in superyachts.”
The German-based yard went on to say “with the signing of the first contract for a major order, a significant milestone has been reached within the reorganisation of the Nobiskrug shipyard and the takeover by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG).”
Nobiskrug filed for insolvency in April this year after a turbulent few months that began in September 2020, when it announced it was cutting 120 jobs. However, in July it was revealed that fellow German shipyard Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) had put together a deal to save its compatriot and in August Nobiskrug officially joined FSG as part of the Tennor Group.
As part of the deal, FSG and Nobiskrug work under joint management and administration teams but continue to be based at their respective locations, which are just over an hour apart.
FSG specializes in building and repairing passenger vessels, ferries and roll-on roll-off vessels, whilst Nobiskrug has a rich history in delivering superyachts. Its inaugural project was 92.42m (303ft) TATOOSH delivered in 2000 and it has since gone on to deliver a number of superyachts in the 60m (197ft) plus bracket including 142.8m (468.5ft) ‘Sailing Yacht A’, the world’s largest sailing yacht and one of the ten largest yachts in the world.
