SES Yachts has recently unveiled the 32.7m (107ft) FAR NIENTE from its Istanbul-based shipyard. The vessel's design draws inspiration from the Dutch herring luggers of the early 1900s, featuring a round-bilged hull and classic lines.
Hoek Design Naval Architects handled the naval architecture, exterior, and interior design, employing a similar approach to their work on Turquoise Yachts' BLUE 11, a 56m (184ft) steamship-style yacht.
FAR NIENTE's fuel-efficient hull underwent extensive optimization using Hoek Design's computational fluid dynamics programs, ensuring peak performance. Crafted by SES Yachts' skilled carpenters, the yacht boasts a wooden superstructure, varnished teak finishing, and teak decks.
Accommodations span five cabins for guests and three for crew. The interior design merges contemporary elements like grey-washed oak and white paneling with traditional deck heads and timber beams.
On-deck amenities include a television lounge leading to a covered sundeck with dining facilities. The foredeck houses two tenders launched and retrieved by a retractable crane.
Utilizing a singular MAN engine, FAR NIENTE can cruise at a speed of 9 knots (with a maximum speed of 11 knots) and offers a range of 3,750nm. Furthermore, the vessel is equipped with Sleipner stabilizers for enhanced comfort and bow and stern thrusters for maneuverability.
Also known as NB52, the construction of the vessel began in 2022, under the name TRADEWIND, before being changed to FAR NIENTE — the Italian meaning for "doing nothing".
Once again we have combined the timeless and elegant good looks of a classic motor yacht design with a fully optimized, hi-tech underwater body shape, using all the modern design programming we now have at our disposal."
