Windy Boats has launched its largest model yet, the 18.18m (60ft) SLR/SR60 which will serve as a chase boat for the 60m (197ft) Royal Huisman superyacht 'Project 404'.
Its flagship model hit the water at Vastervik in Sweden and has been designed specifically as a superyacht chase boat. Key features include a large swimming platform aft of a spacious alfresco guest area and drinks bar and two cabins below deck, located forward and aft, along with a galley and day head with shower.
The hull and deck benefit from vacuum-infused vinylester with carbon fiber strengthening which, along with the triple Volvo IPS 650 engines, give it a top speed of 43 knots and a range of 850nm at 25 knots. Passengers are protected by a full-height windscreen, a flared bow and multiple chines on the hull.
Knut Heiberg-Anderson, co-chairman of Windy Boats, said: “Windy’s philosophy has always been to design and build boats that set a new benchmark of style, and become market leaders in their own right. Working only with the world’s greatest designers and craftsmen, drawing on their passion and skill, Windy has been able to build a name and a product that is envied by many.”
The yacht is a collaboration with Malcolm McKeon on the exteriors and Studi Liaigre on the interiors, and it has been designed with detailing and finishes that mirror those of its mothership, the 60m (197ft) Royal Huisman superyacht Project 404.
A second hull of the SLR/SR60, which takes the mantle from the 16m (52ft) SR52 as Windy’s largest yacht yet, has been sold and is in construction.
The SLR/SR60 is very much in keeping with the fleet of high quality and high-performance sportsboats, sports yachts and superyacht tenders Windy has been delivering since it was founded in 1966.
