Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement w/ bulbous bow steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.43m beam and a 2.3m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 244 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the Darwin 102 design. Launched in September 2015 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Cantiere delle Marche's Cantiere delle Marche yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in September 2015.
Exterior Design
Acala's hull is painted in a sleek grey, complemented by a white superstructure. The boot top is also white, creating a clean and cohesive look. Below the waterline, the hull is finished in black, adding contrast and a sense of depth to the overall design. The clipper bow shape enhances the yacht's navigational capabilities, providing a smooth and steady ride even in challenging waters.
At the transom, Acala offers a range of smart design elements. A quick connect location on the port side facilitates the easy filling of multiple dive tanks. The centerline hydraulic platform, which raises and lowers, ensures straightforward access to and from the water. This area is designed to be double wide, allowing multiple individuals to prepare for water activities simultaneously.
The aft deck features a centerline table with seating for up to 12 people. The deck also includes a refrigerator on the port side and stairs on the starboard side that lead to the upper deck. Walkarounds on both the port and starboard sides extend to midship, providing easy access throughout the yacht.
Moving to the upper deck, the exterior design includes a main dining area adjacent to the Skylounge, capable of seating all guests comfortably. The aft section is equipped with a VRC 4500 davit and houses a custom 19-foot Novurania diesel tender, which can siphon fuel from the main tanks, eliminating the need for additional fuel storage on deck.
The Sun Deck offers a jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads for lounging. The midship port area is dedicated to entertainment, featuring a full-size Australian barbecue, refrigerator, and ice maker. The well-organized mast above provides additional shade for this space.
The lazarette is a highlight of the yacht, tailored specifically for dive operations. It includes a nitrox dive compressor, storage for several sea bobs, and custom storage solutions for diving equipment such as BCDs, masks, and fins. Additionally, the lazarette houses a washer-dryer, a large water maker on the port side, and shore power converters, ensuring global compatibility for electrical needs.
Interior Design
The main lounge is designed as a versatile space. It includes built-in cabinetry and a large, low-profile couch, making it an inviting area for relaxation. A 55-inch pop-up TV is positioned opposite the couch, catering to entertainment needs. Forward to port, a multipurpose space can be used for dining or as a card table, adding to the lounge's flexibility.
In the helm, the focus is on visibility and operational efficiency. The forward-raked bridge windows offer clear views, essential for navigation. The wheelhouse includes two identical captain's chairs and four flat panel monitors, providing a comprehensive control center.
The Skylounge on the upper deck mirrors the main salon's design ethos. It features a low-profile settee and sliding doors that can be tucked away, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Accommodation
Acala offers comfortable accommodation for up to 12 guests across five well-appointed cabins. The master cabin is elevated and forward, featuring a king-size berth and an ensuite bathroom.
Towards the aft, there are two identical VIP cabins, each furnished with queen-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms. These cabins mirror each other, offering equal levels of comfort and space. Midship, the yacht provides two additional cabins, often referred to as bunk rooms. Each of these cabins can sleep three guests with a combination of beds, including a pullman. Both cabins are ensuite, providing convenience and privacy.
For the crew, Acala accommodates up to seven members, including space for a dive master if required. The crew quarters are located forward on the main deck, featuring three ensuite cabins.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18) 671hp engines, motor yacht Acala is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 40,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
