Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.1m beam and a 3m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 496 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in December 2011 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Calliope is characterized by a Clipper Bow, lending a distinct and traditional profile. The deck is constructed from teak, offering durability and a classic aesthetic. The hull of the yacht is painted a deep blue, while the superstructure contrasts in white, creating a clean and crisp visual appeal. The boot top also features a white color, maintaining consistency with the superstructure. Below the waterline, the yacht is coated in black, completing its sleek and understated exterior look.
The aft deck features two small tables that can be combined into a larger dining space, accompanied by comfortable sofas. On the bridge deck, there is the "Bark Park," an area specifically designed for dogs on board. This space includes faux grass and a lounge area for guests. The sundeck is equipped with a Jacuzzi and sunpads, with an optional yellow bimini for shade. Additionally, it offers an al fresco dining table and a cocktail bar situated forward.
Interior Design
Design Unlimited, in collaboration with RMK Marine's in-house interiors team, developed a contemporary Asian-influenced design. Dark wenge display cases are backed with gold leaf, and cream slubbed silk paneling is framed by more dark wenge. This combination covers many of the walls throughout the yacht. Comfortable cream seating is accented with blue cushions, and thick cream-colored silk and wool carpet covers the floor. Large windows and a white grooved ceiling ensure the space feels open and light.
The galley, situated forward of the saloon, has three access points to facilitate efficient movement. It is equipped with high-spec appliances akin to those found in a top-quality home kitchen. A dumbwaiter connects the galley to the skydeck, enabling easy service for guests dining above.
The main saloon is designed to be multifunctional. It features a Macassar ebony and satin stainless steel dining table that can serve as a formal dining area, a family breakfast spot, or an informal office. Adjacent to the dining space is a lounge area where guests can relax. Design Unlimited opted for a layout that maximizes space without compromising on comfort.
The helm, located forward on the owner's deck, includes a FLIR infrared night-vision camera and a radio room. It features wing stations and is designed to ensure efficient operation. The foredeck below the bridge serves as a working space, with doors that conceal two tenders and the capacity to accommodate additional equipment like Jet Skis and ski boats.
Accommodation
Calliope accommodates up to 10 guests across five well-appointed cabins. The owner's suite is located on a dedicated deck, prioritizing privacy and exclusivity. This full-beam main cabin is designed to be spacious and calming, featuring Japanese and Eastern influences in its décor. The suite includes marble his and hers en suites, one with a bath and the other with a rain shower, both offering panoramic views. Additionally, the owner's deck includes a private sitting room with an aft face that opens completely, eliminating side walkways to ensure complete privacy.
The lower deck hosts the guest accommodation, comprising two double cabins and two twin cabins. Each cabin is designed with comfort in mind, featuring Tempur mattresses, en suite bathrooms, and large windows that allow natural light to fill the space.
The crew quarters are designed to occupy 35 percent of the yacht's space, ensuring that the crew members are comfortable and well-rested. The area includes spacious cabins with Tempur mattresses and iPod docks, a large dining area, and a kitchenette. This thoughtful design ensures that the crew can operate efficiently, providing guests with exceptional service throughout their stay.
