Delivered in 2013, Darwin is a 28.5m motor yacht built by Su Marine Yachts.

Key Features

  • Skylights provide natural light inside.
  • Full-beam owner's cabin.
  • Features a spacious flybridge.
  • Inspired by American commuter boats.

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement wood hull and superstructure she features a 6.5m beam and a 1.87m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 120 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Darwin boasts a plumb bow shape, a characteristic that contributes to its efficient movement through water. The hull is painted in a navy blue, offering a striking contrast against the white of the superstructure and the boot top. Below the waterline, a red color is applied, adding a distinct visual element when the yacht is docked or at slow speeds.

The yacht's deck layout is thoughtfully arranged to maximize outdoor living spaces. The flybridge area is equipped with a control station and a large seating area. Skylights are strategically placed throughout the yacht, including in the flybridge area, to enhance the outdoor experience with natural light.

Darwin's exterior is also practical, featuring redundancies such as two anchors and two water pumps to ensure safety and reliability. The inclusion of oversized equipment, like hydraulic and turn bolt thrusters, further emphasizes the yacht's preparedness for a variety of cruising scenarios.

Darwin showcases a semi-displacement wood hull for smooth sailing and a plumb bow, complemented by a navy blue and white exterior with strategic skylights for natural lighting.

Interior Design

Upon entering the salon from the cockpit through the sliding mahogany door, guests are greeted by the main library, a space designed for relaxation and contemplation. The use of mahogany extends throughout the interior, providing a consistent and warm wooden texture that complements the yacht's overall design theme. The salon area is well-lit, thanks to the strategic use of skylights, which also serve to brighten the VIP cabin below.

The galley, positioned on the port side above the lower deck cabins, is equipped with modern appliances and ample workspace to cater to culinary needs. The layout is practical, allowing for efficient movement and preparation of meals.

Adjacent to the galley, the helm station is designed for optimal functionality. Visibility is a key consideration, with clear lines of sight to all critical navigation points. The helm features contemporary navigation and control systems, arranged for intuitive use by the captain.

Accommodation

Darwin's accommodation is designed to host a total of up to 8 guests across four well-appointed cabins. These include a full-beam master cabin, a VIP cabin, one double cabin, and one twin cabin.

The master cabin, located on the lower deck, adjacent to the engine room. This full-beam space boasts its separate bathroom, offering an exclusive and peaceful haven for the owners. The placement of the master cabin ensures minimal noise and vibration, maximizing the comfort levels for the occupants.

Forward on the yacht, the VIP cabin offers spacious accommodation with enhanced privacy, positioned away from the communal areas. The additional double and twin cabins are designed with the same attention to detail and comfort.

Darwin also provides accommodation for three crew.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MAN (V8-1200) 1,200hp engines, motor yacht Darwin is capable of reaching a top speed of 21 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.

Yacht Darwin offers a full-beam master cabin, a spacious flybridge, and a well-equipped galley, making her ideal for up to 8 guests and three crew members to enjoy the sea in comfort and style.
