Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and superstructure she features a 15.3m (50ft) beam and a 4.12m (13.5ft) draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 4,184 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Initiated in late 1985, this yacht's construction adhered to the Lloyds Register's technical standards. Launched in May 1988, the vessel underwent sea trials in the subsequent months and was ultimately delivered to its owners in December 1989.
Exterior Design
Dubawi's origin as a cruise ship is unmistakable. Its wide and high-sided exterior profile suggests a compartmentalized interior design. The foredeck is purposefully dedicated to function, efficiently housing massive deck hardware out of the guest's way. The deck spaces, while intimate in most areas, open up notably on the upper deck. Adding an interesting architectural feature, two distinctive wings angle from the uppermost deck level, contributing to the overall uniqueness of Dubawi's design.
Interior Design
Dubawi's extensive interior is characterized by frequent use of intense colors and retro-style patterns. The design strategically balances "party areas" with relaxing spaces, offering a diverse atmosphere throughout the yacht.
The color palette aboard Voyager is vibrant, making a bold statement throughout the interior. Textures play a key role, especially within the soft furnishings where corduroy and velvet create a luxurious feel. In one of the salon areas, ribbed wall coverings in a deep purple hue contrast against deep walnut panels. Highly polished wood forms a curved structure supporting sumptuous seating, creating a visually striking and comfortable ambiance. The overall effect is enhanced by the clever juxtaposition of these elements against a grey gator print floor covering.
In additional salons, the floor coverings take on retro designs, featuring garish colors that captivate attention. These bold patterns stand out prominently against golden orange settees, accompanied by striking blue and deep turquoise soft cushions. The deliberate use of contrasting colors and retro aesthetics creates a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, adding a touch of playful sophistication to these spaces on Voyager.
The interior design aboard Voyager may cater to a specialist taste, not universally appealing, but it undeniably transforms the space into something truly interesting within the context of this remarkable yacht.
