The Nuvolari Lenard-designed 115m (377ft), 5257GT Lürssen, AHPO, has a spectacular feel inside and out. Construction follows the traditional displacement steel hull allied to an aluminium superstructure but the design is pure, flowing inspiration.

The build commenced in late 2018 with the keel laid under the project name 'Enzo'. Launched in June 2021 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her Owners in November 2021.

Design & Construction

Across its five decks, with four exterior levels, the design manages to be both smooth and impressively architectural. This harmony is perhaps best seen from the stern, where the sheerline that runs aft from the bow flows down to sea level.

The early brief for the interior was to link all the elements of nature, harmoniously balanced throughout the yacht, with a pallet of colourful and sophisticated materials. The style was all about the richness of life over simple opulence. Flowers and plants are a distinct theme on board, the outcome is a stylish, grown-up environment with bespoke furniture framed against a tastefully muted background.

When at anchor, the stern of the yacht converts into an open sea terrace with a water-level lounge. Further forward is a luxurious 12-seater cinema, complete with proper armchairs and a bespoke wallpaper that replicates the mosaic design of the spa.

Forward, is one of the yacht’s stand-out areas, a glass walkway through the engine room. This futuristic addition allows the Owners and guests to view the impressive engines and mechanical spaces. A contrast to the gentle and soft design features throughout the rest of the yacht.

Exterior Design

Renowned for its innovative and sleek designs, the Lürssen shipyard delivers once again with the superyacht Ahpo. The yacht's exterior is a testament to the seamless blend of robust engineering and artistic vision.

One of the defining features of Ahpo's exterior is the remarkable mast, a towering structure that embodies both functionality and style. This immense mast is not only a storage solution but also adds a sense of scale to the yacht's crowning feature. The mast is reminiscent of the funnels of 1950s and 1960s vessels, providing a subtle nod to the rich heritage of seafaring vessels.

Ahpo's bow is another distinctive element of its design. The bow is defined, with the yacht's logo positioned at the tip, and is just long enough to bestow the yacht with the right proportions. The long, flowing lines are a signature of Nuvolari Lenard's designs and contribute to the harmonious balance of the overall aesthetic.

The yacht's exterior also features a contrast of black and white paint, highlighting the swooping, wraparound decks and creating a visual cascade from the top to the forward, fully certified helipad. This color scheme extends to the aft, where another helipad is situated, making Ahpo recognizable from any vantage point.

The deck heights of Ahpo, reaching 2.4 meters and 2.7 meters in some places, and the six-deck structure, contribute to the yacht's grandeur without compromising its sleek silhouette. Despite its impressive size, Ahpo's design ensures it appears lean and graceful on the water.

The exterior design of Ahpo also takes into account the importance of outdoor living. The side decks on the sky lounge deck are exceptionally wide, like a proper promenade on a cruise ship, allowing the owners to enjoy the fresh air without returning to shore. The yacht's transom door opens to reveal a truly exceptional beach club/spa, further enhancing the outdoor experience.

The semi-circular windows, a distinctive feature and a nod to the owner's previous Lürssen, Quattroelle, are paired with the serious, ship-like bow. This combination results in an exterior that is both familiar and innovative, staying true to the owner's vision while pushing the boundaries of yacht design.

Interior Design

Nuvolari Lenard, renowned for their innovative and elegant designs, led the creative execution of the interiors, celebrating the essence of nature throughout the yacht.

One of the most striking features of Ahpo's interior design is the extensive use of various materials to create an environment that is both luxurious and welcoming. Wood, glass, GRP, alloy, and an array of distinct stones, wallpapers, carpets, and mother-of-pearl are harmoniously fused together to create an ambiance of understated elegance.

The main theme of Ahpo is nature, which is represented in the lavish use of plants throughout the yacht. These plants, although mostly artificial due to the salty air, add a verdant touch to the interior space, enhancing the yacht's aesthetic appeal. The spa, in particular, showcases this theme with its bamboo accents, walnut leaf ceiling, and teak stripes that guide a gently gurgling waterfall.

The owner's suite is a testament to the yacht's commitment to excellence and luxury. The suite boasts two private terraces, spectacular bathrooms with handmade bathtubs from Catchpole & Rye, mosaics inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt, and crystal chandeliers by Lasvit in the style of Baccarat.

Further enhancing the yacht's charm is the 12-seat cinema, adorned with portraits of the owners' favorite actors and artists rendered in black and white fabric mosaics by Sicis. This touch of vintage Hollywood adds a nostalgic charm to the space.

The boardroom, positioned unconventionally aft on the main deck, features a standout oval table by Based Upon. The table top incorporates an old map of Jamaica engraved in bronze amidst blue resin, adding a personal touch to the professional space.

One of the most impressive interior features of Ahpo is the spiral staircase by Vedder, which represents an olive tree growing over several decks. The staircase is paired with a bas-relief running over five decks, each with its own color theme, and wraps around an elliptical sculpture adorned with handmade crystal feathers.

The grand dining room is another area where Ahpo's interior design shines. A custom table by List, with a glass top created by DKTArtworks using the French technique of verre églomisé, becomes the room's centerpiece.

Ahpo's interior design reflects the owner's passion for fitness and wellness too. The private duplex gym rivals any luxury hotel fitness center, with red lacquer furniture, synthetic flooring, hidden TVs, and personalized equipment from Technogym and Peloton.

Accommodation

On the main deck, a large conference room aft boasts a beautiful custom table with an antique map of Jamaica engraved in bronze and surrounded by deep blue resin sitting underneath an eye-catching crystal chandelier. Sliding doors allow this to be a contained, private working environment. When desired, the doors open to reveal the main salon, an elegant, formal space with a self-playing Steinway piano.

Also on this deck is the bespoke wine display with individual, walk-in sections that can be climate-controlled accordingly, a feature that was requested right from the initial layout.

The centre of the yacht is dominated by a grand staircase, accessible at all guest levels. The staircase represents a path upwards, with an olive tree that grows up to the sky, surrounded by cranes and nature-themed decor.

Owner’s Decks

The Owner’s decks run over two defined levels, made up of a large 245-metre square cabin on the Owner’s deck and a 95-metre square panoramic salon on the upper deck above, joined together by a grand, private staircase.

The cabin is spacious and cosy all at once, providing ample privacy from the outside world. The design is light, elegant and muted, making this a relaxing place for sleeping and winding down. A custom-designed breakfast table sits at the front of the room for quiet moments, while two reclining sofas flank either side of the bed. The private deck space for this room is similarly cosy and private, a semi-circle sofa and coffee table face out to sea on recessed balconies on each side, cocooned into a quiet corner thanks to the glass bulwarks and the interior of the cabin, providing two of the most quietly delightful and unique areas on board. The layout means there is no possibility for anyone to walk around the outside of the master cabin.

The panoramic Owner’s salon above is in the area traditionally given over to the master cabin, forward on the upper deck, enjoying 180-degree views over the bow. “This is the essence of the design,” says Nuvolari. “This is the correct amount of visibility for this design, because if somewhere has a complete view, then there is a lack of privacy from the outside which we didn’t want for the bedroom of the master cabin.”

Instead, the Owner's salon enjoys these incredible views, with sofas placed facing forward to make the most of the line of sight. Two beautiful, custom desks flank each end of the salon, turning the room into a private office if so desired. This also means that there is a clear delineation between places to work and places to sleep and means that if the Owners want to have a private external meeting that it is kept completely separate from the sleeping quarters. The salon has access to the foredeck and helicopter pad, meaning guests arriving by helicopter do not see into the master cabin.

Guests cabins

There are seven guest cabins on board with two on the Owner’s deck, four on the main deck and one on the lower deck. The two cabins on the Owner’s deck are designated for specific family members and enjoy their own colour themes of pink and green. The large cabins on the main deck are similarly beautifully appointed and enjoy the view from the iconic semi-circle windows - the only running theme between this boat and the Owner’s previous yacht according to Nuvolari Lennard.

The cabin on the lower deck is opposite the cinema room in the wellness area, an ideal location for an active younger guest who wants to make the most of their days in the beach club and on the water.

Performance & Capabilities

At the heart of Ahpo lies the mechanical powerhouse—two MTU 20V 4000 engines. These engines, meticulously maintained and kept in pristine condition, ensure a smooth and robust performance. Despite two transatlantic crossings and several months of active duty, the engines look as good as new, reflecting the dedicated maintenance regimen on board.

Ahpo's mechanical sophistication extends beyond the engines. The yacht is fitted with a dynamic positioning system and controllable-pitch propellers. This combination ensures precise maneuvering at low speeds, a feature that is crucial for a vessel of such size.

In terms of speed and range, Ahpo doesn't disappoint. With the power of the twin MTU engines, the yacht is designed to offer impressive cruising speeds. While exact figures are not available, it is clear that Ahpo is built to perform.

One of the key features of Ahpo is its energy efficiency. The yacht boasts a heat-recovery system that redirects heat generated by the engines and generators to warm the swimming pool, spa pool, and other water systems. This system not only conserves energy but also contributes to the overall comfort of the guests on board.

Ahpo is also fitted with super-efficient Hug Engineering after-treatment filters that complement the mandatory SCR system. This ensures that the yacht meets all necessary environmental regulations while maintaining optimal performance.

The yacht's stabilizers are another highlight. Ahpo is equipped with massive quantum fins that ensure a smooth and stable ride, even in rough seas. This feature is a testament to Lürssen's commitment to comfort and luxury.

In terms of noise control, Ahpo sets a new benchmark. The yacht features optimal noise insulation that ensures library-quiet sound levels in the guest areas. This is a testament to the detailed specifications and the expertise of Lürssen.

Wellness

The expansive wellness area on the lower deck has a real impact and, fittingly, will be the first place that many guests will experience. Boarding through the transom door, guests are greeted by a large bamboo grove encased in backlit frosted glass, which forms a stunning backdrop to a stylish bar on one side and a luxurious massage room on the other. Crafted by interior outfitter List, the theme of nature is consistently woven throughout, with meticulous attention to detail. From real leaves and stems to hand-painted wallpaper, every element is thoughtfully considered, complemented by refined and relaxing lighting.

In contrast to this zen atmosphere is an explosion of vibrant colored mosaic tiles that make up the Turkish-style hammam. The sauna has Himalayan salt bricks inserted into its walls. A jacuzzi and plunge pool form the focus in the middle of the space.

In addition to the spa, the yacht features a beach club, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and a private owner's deck. Additionally, there is a 12-seater cinema, conference room, and a self-playing Steinway piano for onboard entertainment and gatherings.
