The 26.3m motor yacht Insomnia was delivered to her owners in 2020 by British shipyard Sunseeker. Her interior and exterior has been penned in-house by the Sunseeker design team.

Key Features

  • Foredeck with sunbathing area
  • Hydraulic swim platform
  • Full beam owner's cabin
  • Well-equipped galley

Design & Construction

Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.47m beam and a 1.95m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 128 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Key features of the exterior include a hydraulic swim platform capable of supporting tenders up to 1,000 kilos. This platform can be lowered into the sea, facilitating easy tender launch and recovery. By storing the tender externally, the design allows for more interior space, which has been allocated to the crew quarters.

The aft deck is spacious, providing ample seating for guests to enjoy their surroundings. A docking station is strategically placed here, offering the captain clear visibility and control during docking maneuvers. The bow and stern thrusters, along with engine controls, are conveniently accessible.

The  forward deck includes additional seating and sunbathing areas, taking advantage of the extended superstructure. This design maximizes usable outdoor space without compromising the yacht's sleek lines.

On the flybridge, a well-appointed bar and dining area are available under a retractable sun awning. The flybridge also features extensive sunbathing spaces, making it a versatile area for relaxation and entertainment.

Interior Design

The main lounge area of Insomnia is designed with attention to both aesthetics and functionality. The space features comfortable cushions and sofas. The side opening door on the starboard side leads to a bulwark that can fold down to become a terrace, providing an additional seating area.

The main lounge includes a storage unit that is both practical and stylish. It houses a fridge for soft drinks, a wine fridge, and ample storage for plates and glassware. The marble top is easy to clean, making it convenient for the crew to prepare and serve snacks and drinks.

The galley is well-equipped with modern appliances and benefits from natural sunlight. It is designed to facilitate easy preparation of meals, with a layout that allows efficient movement for the chef. The galley connects directly to the inside dining area.

The dining area is located adjacent to the galley and features a corner dinette with a socket for plugging in a computer. This space is designed for practicality, with a granite worktop bar area that serves as a functional space for both guests and crew.

The helm station is elevated for better visibility, an important feature given the yacht's size and high bow. The station includes large screens displaying GPS, radar, and engine parameters. The controls are designed to be user-friendly, making it easier for the captain to operate.
