The 47.3m motor yacht La Vie was delivered to her owners in 2022 by Turkish shipyard Mengi-Yay. Her exterior design comes from the drawing boards of VYD Studio, while Glinton Naval Architects is responsible for her naval architecture.
Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.8m beam and a 2.8m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the Virtus 47M design. Launched in April 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2022.
Exterior Design
Built in steel and aluminum by Turkish yard Mengi-Yay, the yachts feature exterior designs by VYD Studio. The exterior is finished in classic white with a black hull below the waterline. The sub-500 GT model offers extensive leisure spaces, including a large sky lounge and a generous beach club. The beach club features unfolding sea terraces and hydraulic steps for easy water access, with an interior lounge area creating a shaded connection to the water. The aft area of the yacht also includes an enclosed garage that holds two tenders.
The yacht's side profile features a forward-leaning dynamic with slim, forward-angled glazing in the hull and a trio of portholes just forward of amidships. The stern profile follows a sharp angle from the sun deck down to a short, fixed bathing platform at water level. The beach club is revealed when the large transom door is raised, featuring unfolding sea terraces and hydraulic steps for easy water access, along with an interior lounge area that creates a shaded connection to the water. The aft area also includes an enclosed garage that holds two tenders.
Side balconies amidships add to the yacht's appeal, while extensive glazing along the main deck contrasts with the pristine white superstructure. At the bow, a shell door opens to reveal an emergency vessel and additional storage. The foredeck starts with an operational section, followed by smart teak steps leading to an elevated guest area with forward sun pads, flexible bimini shade, and forward-facing U-shaped banquette seating. This area benefits from the shade provided by the sun deck overhang above the bridge glazing.
The sun deck, accessed via a stairway on the port quarter deck, opens to a spacious seating area. The radar mast canopy provides welcome shade over the circular dining area. Sun loungers positioned at the forward end of the deck offer ample sun exposure and elevated views for guests.
Interior Design
The interiors, designed by Leonardo Santini, feature golden yellow and dark chocolate accents that highlight the warm cream tones throughout.
Accommodation
The yacht accommodates up to ten guests across five staterooms. Seven crew members are accommodated across four cabins.
Performance & Capabilities
The Virtus model offers high propeller clearance to reduce vibration and noise, along with two pairs of zero-speed stabilizers. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32) 1,115hp engines, it cruises comfortably at 12 knots and reaches speeds up to 14.5 knots. At cruising speed, the yacht boasts an impressive range thanks to a total fuel capacity of 51,000 liters.
Amenities
Waterfront living can be enjoyed to the fullest, thanks to a large beach club and connecting swim platform with plenty of space for sitting back and admiring the sea views. The yacht features a tender garage with storage for a range of toys and accessories. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
