The 159'2" motor yacht Lands End was delivered to her owners in 1965 by Botje Ensing & Co. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Botje Ensing & Co, while De Savary is responsible for her interior design.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and a steel / aluminium superstructure she features a 28'10" beam and a 9'5" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 364 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The aft deck is a fully covered space featuring cushioned seating along the varnished bulkheads. The area is centered around a brass-beaded, ten-seater teak dining table, which also conceals the capstan. This setup provides a functional space for dining and relaxation. Stairs on the port side lead to the boat deck, while double doors open into the main deck accommodation.

On the boat deck, the bridge maintains a traditional layout with wood-trimmed decor and a massive spoked wheel. Despite its classic appearance, the bridge is equipped with modern control, navigation, and communication systems, including a Sperry SRP 680 autopilot and a Magnavox MX 2400 satellite communications system. The boat deck also houses the owner's study, which is well-lit with views from four windows and serves as a functional office space.

The sundeck above the bridge, accessible by two stairways, offers a canvas-screened area for sunbathing. The boat deck itself is spacious enough to stow two tenders. This area also features a cushioned lounging area and a communal spa bath under a sun awning.

Interior Design

The main saloon of Lands End exudes a classic and homely decor, characterized by natural materials and practical design. Planked walls adorned with antique paintings and loose carpeted floors provide a welcoming atmosphere. The deckheads are paneled, ensuring that the space feels structured and comfortable. A large L-shaped settee and two armchairs offer ample seating, while a bar with a paneled exterior, concealing a TV and video system, is situated aft on the starboard side. This area is balanced by a small card table to port. The forward end of the saloon is marked by an etched glass partition that separates it from the dining room.

The main galley, located adjacent to the crew quarters, was refitted to meet commercial standards. Equipped with Garland commercial fittings. This ensures sufficient storage for long voyages. The upper galley and service pantry on the main deck are well-equipped with two electric ovens, electric hobs, a small fridge, an icemaker, and a second garbage compactor, ensuring efficient meal preparation.

The bridge maintains a traditional layout with wood-trimmed decor and a massive spoked wheel, giving it the feel of a classic yacht. Despite its traditional appearance, it is outfitted with modern control, navigation, and communication equipment, including a Sperry SRP 680 autopilot and a Magnavox MX 2400 satellite communications system.

Abaft the bridge, instead of the typical captain's accommodation, is the owner's study. This space is light and airy, with good views from four windows. It serves as a functional office equipped with the ship's communication systems, allowing Peter de Savary to manage his business affairs while onboard.

Accommodation

Lands End is designed to host a total of eight guests in four twin-bedded guest cabins located on the lower deck. Each cabin spans half the width of the stern of the yacht, ensuring ample space and comfort. Decorated with a homely ambiance, all cabins are fully air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities such as a TV and video system. Each cabin also features ensuite facilities including a toilet, bath, shower, double washbasins, and a bidet, guaranteeing a comfortable stay for all guests.

The owner's suite is situated on the main deck and is accessible through an extension of the starboard side passageway. The suite includes a full-width sitting room at the forward end of the main deck accommodation. This sitting room connects privately to the owner’s bedroom, which features a full-size double bed, campaign-style dressing and bedside tables, and mirror-fronted wardrobes. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a toilet, shower, bath, and washbasin, providing all the essentials for a luxurious experience.

The spacious crew quarters provide comfortable living space for a crew of 14. 

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MAN (GTV-30/45) engines, motor yacht Lands End is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 23,860 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
