- Garage door doubles as a platform
- Shaded dining on the top deck
- Helicopter landing capability on sundeck
Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 33'6" beam and a 11'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 885 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Maraya reflects a series of intelligent modifications and adaptations that set her apart from her predecessor, Ability. Notable structural changes include the replacement of the sloping windows on the forward elevation of the bridge and sundeck with vertical versions, a shorter mast, and a flattened stern. The guardrails are now capped with teak, stainless finishing details have been removed from the transom’s open deck, and the garage door on the starboard quarter folds down to create a bathing platform and a dock for the Castoldi Jet 23 and other tenders.
A key feature is the owner’s private balcony, which folds out from the starboard side of the hull. This addition increases the usable outdoor space within the master suite, providing an open-air area that is typically seen on larger yachts. The balcony is teak-decked and can accommodate a table and chairs. It is surrounded by teak-capped guardrails that deploy using a "scissors system." For safety, the balcony mechanism is disabled from the bridge when the yacht is underway.
The stern of Maraya also sees significant improvements over Ability. The lower balcony spans the stern just above the waterline, ideal for relaxation and overseeing water activities. Unlike Ability, which features a gym in this area, Maraya has a small lounge, providing a more comfortable space for guests.
The upper deck spaces have been designed with practicality in mind, especially for water sports enthusiasts. Maraya carries four kayaks, two Laser dinghies, two radio-controlled model Laser dinghies, and a Nautique Crossover 216 ski-boat. The necessary crane for launching this equipment is cleverly integrated into the superstructure, ensuring it does not disrupt the yacht's lines.
Maraya is also equipped for helicopter landings as a 'private touch-and-go', capable of handling a 1,500-kilogram helicopter. The fittings used to secure the ski-boat and jet-skis double as fixing points for the helicopter's landing mat. Hydromist jets are fitted in strategic locations to counteract the Mediterranean's dry heat, maintaining guest comfort without drenching them.
Interior Design
Maraya features an interior designed by Lebanese designer Claude Missir, who brought his experience from working on the owner’s houses to the yacht. The design utilizes a variety of high-quality materials, including travertine and sivec marble, canaletto walnut, antiqued beechwood, and nabuk leather.
The main saloon on Maraya is designed for both comfort and functionality. Unlike its predecessor, Ability, which had a partition dividing the space, Maraya features an open-plan layout. The seating area is separated from the ebony 12-seat dining table by a low bureau. This bureau houses a retractable plasma television, which can rotate 180 degrees to serve both the seating and dining areas. This design allows guests in the dining room to have an unimpeded view through the saloon, across the aft deck, and over the transom, offering a clear sightline of nearly half the yacht’s length.
Maraya's interior spaces are equipped with furniture and features from reputable brands such as Fendi, Minotti, and Philippe Starck. The owner's bathroom includes a Corian bath by Boffi. Lighting within the yacht is a key feature, with over 600 fiber-optic pinpricks installed in the ceilings and LED strips placed in recesses and near floor level to create ambient lighting effects.
Maraya's bridge has been designed with a focus on minimizing controls and maximizing functionality. It features a bank of five screens with interchangeable functions, including a display for the 3D, forward-facing sonar. All controls are centralized in a single console, and every function is replicated on a touchscreen in each wing station. Ergopod controllers in the armrests of the pilot seats provide access to all vital equipment. The bridge layout allows for unobstructed movement from wing station to wing station and includes a central, forward-facing chart table for discussing passage-making and plans.
Accommodation
Maraya offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in a well-appointed layout that includes six cabins. The owner’s suite, located on the main deck, features a fold-out balcony that provides an open-air space, enhancing the cabin's ambiance with natural light and sea views. This suite is equipped with premium materials such as travertine and sivec marble, canaletto walnut, antiqued beechwood, and nabuk leather.
Additionally, there are four guest cabins situated on the lower deck, each designed with the same attention to detail and quality materials. The VIP cabin on the upper deck provides an extra layer of comfort and luxury.
She is also capable of carrying up to 15 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
